If we do get relegated I wonder if CWAK will be up for rebuild from Square one, which is what it would be, players like Berge, Fleck, JOC, Egan would leave and would all need replacing, Billy and Didzy would be pushing things as being too old and would also need replacing at some point, no fans means no income and much of the parachute and transfer income money would be diverted to paying off the loan to buy the assets.
Imperative we stay in this division this season.
I was thinking on this earlier in the weekend though I didn't post it's own thread as it would seem a bit 'bed wetting', after 3 negative results, two of which were pretty unwarranted.
If we did drop there is still some good succession planning on the XI.
No team goes through pre-season without adding players. But even with some key departures there is some scope there to bounce back.
Keeper - I think we have Rammers for the long haul and with Moore, Verrips, Foderingham, Eastwood and Dewhurst, there are enough options to get some balance in the squad.
Defence - you could see big money departures for Baldock, O'Connell and Egan. I'd see Bash remaining loyal plus his age means he will lack resale value. So you'd have a 5 of Bogle-Basham-New-Stevens/Robinson-Lowe/RND. You'd likely need that one pivot if Egan left but I could see Enda slotting in at LCB as a next career step plus the season at Luton will be even more valuable for Rhys.
Midfield, you could see Lunny moving for free, Berge attracting a big bid and Fleck being covetted. You could still line up with a progressive midfield of Norwood's passing from deep and Osborn, who I am a growing more and more a fan of, taking over from Fleck. You'd need to reinvest a little on RCM but not unexpected.
Up front you'd be coming into your own a little. McBurnie a perfect example. He's not done enough yet to be fully covetted at the top level and if he does then we stay up. He is a 20+ striker in the Championship though. Then you have a combo of Billy and McGoldrick perhaps for one last season and Mousset causing havok when fit. You may also start to introduce Hackford and start to see what Burke can do.
You should be looking at over 100m in incoming plus parachute payments so you'd expect some wiggle room.
But I don't think those at the helm will allow this scenario anyway, even if we don't win today.
