This time last week the odds were Utd 1/4 Palace 9/1
Today Palace 1/2 Utd 6/4

And?

Betting odds on transfers, (as has been said a hundred times on this thread alone) dictate betting activity, not insider knowledge! If six of us each put £50 on Brewster to sign for United the odds would move, guaranteed.

My only reservation about signing Brewster for the amount batted around is, why are Liverpool wanting to sell the lad if he really is the real deal?Surely klopp would start integrating him into the Liverpool squad as Greenwood has been doing at Man U.
just doesn’t make sense to me. But that’s why I’m a nurse and not a football manager haha
Liverpool don't have the financial clout to just keep a player hanging around in the hope that he might improve. They need to divert those funds elsewhere for someone proven who can hit the ground running for them.

I’ve read quite a few comments else where saying Brewster is not worth anything like 20 million. He scored for Swansea but so did McB.
Brewster is possibly one for the future, but we need someone now.
I say we move on and forget this young reserve player.

Just been on football show on sky that Palace have put in a formal 19mill bid with 6 mill add ons and a buyback clause of 37 million.

Sky reporting Palace have bid 25m ..37m buyback

Game over guys.

Palace bid in. Reported £19m, £6m add ins, buy back option at £37m. On sky sports now.

This doesn't look good, breaking on SSN:

PALACE MAKE £19M BREWSTER BID
Crystal Palace
have made a formal bid of £19m, plus £6m in add-ons, for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.
The offer includes the option for Liverpool to have first refusal, and buy the player back for £37m in the future.
Jurgen Klopp hadn’t fully decided whether Brewster might figure in his plans this season, though SSN has been told he is now prepared to let the 20-year-old leave - with Liverpool needing funds to help cover the purchases of £25m Thiago and £45m Diogo Jota.
Roy Hodgson is determined to get Brewster in - he first noticed his ability when he was manager at Anfield, and the youngster was in Liverpool’s academy.
It now looks like Palace are the front runners in the chase for Brewster’s signature - we told you last week that up to six Premier League clubs - including Sheffield United, Newcastle and Brighton - were keen on him.

Yeah but it's got literally fuck-all to do with reality. It's an indicator of how many know-nowt optimists are putting money on him going to a certain club, nothing more than that.

If they want to pay that money fair play to them we shouldn’t touch that with a barge pole it’s ridiculous! Move on I say.

Anyone on this list?

There's a big difference between him being decent enough for us & decent enough for Liverpool... they're one of the best clubs in the world.
But if they don't see him being able to step up into their squad to score goals against the same opposition that we'll be facing, is it not a bit of a risk that he wouldn't be able to do that for us, with a reduced number of chances (given our relative chance creation compared to Liverpool's)?

Can you imagine the fall out later tonight if we get dicked over by Villa............car park and shoes come to mind......

But we ideally want a striker than get us 10 goals (double figures) this season as our top scorers were at 6 a piece. That might win us a few extra points in tight games. I think Brewster could potentially do that. Coming up against the prolific forwards that Liverpool have, that isn't going to be in line with their targets to win PL and CL so he won't break into that front line. He could do a job for us, maybe not but the fact is, our aims aren't even comparable to Liverpool's.

To let our striker search get to this stage is quite upsetting. If we don’t win tonight it becomes more of a struggle to attract players. Not sure Chris is telling the truth when he says it’s been his best window. Our number one task was a striker and we might be relying on a lad from arsenal who had never played league football. I would prefer grant form Huddersfield over Brewster by the way but he may be in his way to West Brom.
