Wilder said he was happy with the budget.

Was he lying?

He will push for as much as he can get but he knew the parameters that he was working within.

Wilder has no real choice other than accept or resign; the same as any manager. I don't accept the logic that because a manager carries on in his role that must mean he's happy or even content. All it means is he's not prepared to resign from his well paid job over the matter. I'm convinced there'll be a big striker signing anyway so this will all be moot. He's let us all know that he's looking at several strikers and it's the job of those upstairs to get them in 😉

So he did... it was 2013 though.

I would say he is well behind JOC. JOC could be in the next squad. Mitchell only made his senior debut a week ago. He has looked impressive though to be fair.
ones a centre back and ones a left back....

It sounds as though there may be several levels/caveats to the deal;

1, loan or permanent?
2, loan with a purchase in the summer?
3, permanent with a buy back option?

As he is a Liverpool player they will want to make sure the deal is structured in their best interests, (obviously) then after that it is down to the player and his agent and where they see him developing best. Palace have a plethora of forwards at the moment, (if Benteke and Zaha leave that changes of course) so he might not be seeing as many minutes as he would at BDTBL.....however an extra few £K per week could soften that blow....if he is money orientated, (doesn't appear to be judging by comments earlier in his career that he wants to play as much as he can).

Klopp could be key here, he is an admirer of our style and appears to get on well with CW, Brewster will definitely get more opportunities with us and could realistically become our no1 striker

I thought that but can't see it now it is our own fault for fannying about.
Yes, the betting markets are definitively always accurate barometers of transfers and don't at all just fluctuate based on where the money's being laid by punters.
The bookies make or lose their money based on this insider information, which as we see from twitter is abundant and highly accurate, rather than using simple mathematically probability algorithms working out risk and potential loss on the bets being placed.

If I was rhian and thought I stood a genuine opportunity of breaking into the Liverpool side in future - I’d be tempted by the loan or the deal with a buy back in.

all their strikers are getting to their late 20’s so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see that option exercised in 2/3 years. And I would want to be playing regularly

Looking like Palace will snare him, the lure of London for a young guy is very tempting as we have seen before.

By being given a tiny budget in comparison to our rivals on top of a tiny wage budget?! The fact we had board members voting against paying 3-4 million for a wing back is also worrying. He's the soldier being sent to war with a spud gun.

Maybe true but from what HRH said during the fans forum thingy last week, CW is very persuasive in convincing HRH/whoever else makes the decisions that each player we've signed is the one who'll make the difference.

So he may have been given a tiny budget with additional funds if convinced the said player was the one.

That way, if it all goes tits up and we're relegated it's CW fault as he convinced the owner that the signings Prince has funded were the difference makers.

My only reservation about signing Brewster for the amount batted around is, why are Liverpool wanting to sell the lad if he really is the real deal?Surely klopp would start integrating him into the Liverpool squad as Greenwood has been doing at Man U.
just doesn’t make sense to me. But that’s why I’m a nurse and not a football manager haha

There's a big difference between him being decent enough for us & decent enough for Liverpool... they're one of the best clubs in the world.

If he wants to play immediately - he comes here
If he wants a good chance of playing - he goes to Villa
If he wants to wait for an opportunity but enjoy the bright lights of Landan - he goes to Palace

All the above doesn't matter if Liverpool only pick one of the bids. In which case, he goes to whichever club that may be.

Yeah I see your point mate. But I’m not sure spending my another 20mil on someone who we hope will be good for us is sensible. I would be happy with a loan of someone and then a bigger purse in the jan/next summer window.
but like I say it’s my amateur point of view.

Odds now 1/2 for Palace and 6/4 for us
I actually took a small bet at 5/1 on Palace so might cash out!

Brewster is a loan.

Seeing a fair bit of this, but actually, London during a pandemic...? I'd rather live on the edge of Sheffield with countryside aplenty.

How many times is a fan going to accuse their club of "fannying around"?! We have no real clue what is going on. They're private deals. We only know we're even interested because CW admitted it (unusually), and even that could be smoke and mirrors.
How many times is the same fan?

Every time I come back to this it’s the same repeated over and over.

Certain posters slating the club for “fannying about” or lacking ambition

Others reaffirming the current financial state of the club

Some concerned he’s not worth it.

And of course the same shite from various Twitter “itk’s” and knows nowt journos from various shit rags.

Get a grip folks for Christ’s sake. Say your bit and move on, stop repeating the same old doom and gloom you dull twats. We aren’t signing the next Maradona.
