The wage structure is there for a reason, be it to stop current players demanding pay rises or keeping the club financially sound.

I'd much rather get relegated with a sustainable financial model than end up like Wigan, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Hull et al (that's not me saying I think that we will be relegated, just if.)

There is a balance. We dedicated ourselves to living within our means for years and ended up at the same level as the names you mention for even longer. Sometimes you have to spend to make and keep up with the competition.

Our team is much better than the sum of its parts. The main reason is our togetherness and ability to work together as a team. As soon as you start breaking the wage budget, you loose that. You have unhappy players in the team and players on a relatively low wage deciding to leave to earn more.

Agree in principle, but all those previous years were under what might be perceived as chairmen with probity issues.
I may have misjudged the Prince, but he does come across as honest and genuine in his desire to run the club properly, with the teams success at the heart of it.
Who knows if he has acceded to Wilders request for extra money, yet again (McBurnie) and Bettis and Wilder are doing their best to get it done on the cheap, knowing the Prince has coughed up a few quid, just to get the deal over the line if they are desperate?

You mean we should pay unproven players like Watkins and Cash mega money a week after paying 25 mill plus for them ?Villa and Fulham have tried that before and ended up no where.Villa should be in the Championship NOW but for being very lucky when tech failed and Fulham also went back down doing exactly the same thing.We do not want cash grabbing pillocks we want guys who want to play for our club who are happy on 10 to 25 grand a week .I know I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH THAT.

I am sure pigs increased theirs pretty quickly and have struggled ever since. If we can be a premier league team and gradually increase I am happy. But I am not interested in ticket price hikes to pay for mediocracy in the premier league.

Before I answer, can you explain what our current wage budget is and how it compares to our peers in this league. I'd then be able to base my answer on a real situation rather than just guessing on what is happening like on so many threads before. You can probably get this from someone senior at United

Bit of a lesson from history - I remember the great side we had in 1971/72, topped the old Div 1 for about 6 games
The squad was thin and was crying out for investment which never came. The following season was the start of our decline culminating in relegation in 1976 and eventually down to Div 4 in 1981
