I'm surprised that we haven't announced any major new sponsorship deals this season.

We should have been ripe for some new deals after avoiding relegation.

We can never become an "established" Premier League club. There are only seven of those. Everybody else is one poor season away from relegation.

Recruitment and coaching are the only things that can make a difference, but recruitment doesn't mean spending all, or more, of the PL kitty on incoming transfers and - more importantly - player wages.

When we are relegated, and it's as inevitable as death and taxes, whether it's in 2021, 2022 or 2030, we will face the same dilemma as every other relegated side which is maximising the transfer value of our sought-after players and attempting to ship out those on long contracts.

Providing we haven't gambled all the money away on staying up we can be in a good position to regain our place, as the likes of Burnley and West Brom (consistently) have shown.

Whose to say we can’t become an established Prem club? I wouldn’t write anything off whilst Wilder is still here, that would be very hasty indeed.

It was 1975-6 season when it all went pear shaped. The season that the south stand was opened.

Well said, when we finished 4 points behind Derby (champs) we had high hopes, they soon died but the biggest shock if honest was seeing us drop to the 4th division in 6 seasons that was a disaster of biblical proportions.

Well I think Everton are probably in a reasonably stable and safe position to invest in their new stadium, certainly better placed than we, currently are.

No, it's nonsense. We're never going to be more than a year away from potential relegation. We have to move forward off the field whilst the going is good or we'll never progress on it over a long period.
If Everton only class as reasonably stable and in a safe position from relegation having not seen the second tier of English football since 1954, we've got no chance.

Well said ATM it's baby steps for us you can't run before you can walk, if we try to keep up with the Joneses that is disastrous we cannot and Wilder knows it. Fans have to be a tad more balanced & patient we are in PL infancy and we want to mature and grow up in PL, but it does take time. Okay Wolves have done okay some may say but they have mega rich owners we don't okay he's not brassic but not in their league.

How many clubs are making a profit in the championship? None! Its a recipe for disaster without the backing of wealthy owners or selling players developed through academy 's. the league would be broken.
Wages are the problem and until clubs wake up and live within there budgets clubs will go into administration and worse.
It's all due to the chase for the premiership.
I'm not a prophet of doom but unless wages are brought under control (that includes the premiership 500thousand pounds and more a week is obscene ).
Television is fuelling this without it the wage structure would kill the premier league.
Clubs chasing the big prizes have allowed the agents and players to become too powerful this cascades all the way down the divisions.Initiaĺy I thought Covid would reign things in a bit but it seems most teams are happy to keep the statis quo.The powers that be seem to have no idea how to control the haemoridging of money to players and agents.
They are like Lemmings running over a cliff.
Hopefully the Blades with Wilder and the prince pulling the strings we won't join them.
We have in the past and it takes us years to recover and it's getting harder each time.

Spot on Finley ,sooner or later the train will hit the buffers and it is all self inflicted .Villa spending up to 25 mill for a unproved player and paying him a fortune every week is madness.It won't be long before we hear of clubs going under spending wadds with no one coming through the gates no matter how much cash is pumped in by sponsors .Clubs like Villa and Fulham are just fueling this madness ,you would think after last years spending on players these two would have learned a lesson .What is so important is who is spending it and I am so pleased we have a genius in Wilder who learned his trade managing clubs on the verge of going bust and second to none in spotting bargains .Thats probably why Villa wait to see who Wilder is interested in then jumps in ,saves them money in scouts.We should be so grateful to the Oxfords and clubs like Northampton for allowing our man to cut his teeth at their clubs.They gave him the chance to gain the knowledge on how to run a club on limited finances and be successful ,something very few managers have.I would love to witness these so called top managers with exotic names managing clubs like those mentioned with out a bloody cheque book wondering if they can spend money on the laundry this week.

Pretty big deal with Score Hero, they're pretty huge in their area. And I think they announced that we have an 'exclusive' deal with HE Barnes, what that means I don't know, but possibly that they're only sponsoring us (rather than us, Wednesday, Rotherham, Barnsley etc) so that could be a bit more cash coming in.

Then there's Monster beverages.

I think opportunities are limited though by no crowds.

Everything is relative. Man u fans have been highly critical of their boards ambition over recent years. They expect/demand trophies & Champions League every year & anything less for them is unacceptable.

I admit to having a 'doom & gloom outlook at the moment even though the last 2 - 4 seasons have been the best in my 50+ yrs at the Lane.
My 'doom & gloom' not particularly about the lack of ambition this season but more about the consistent lack of ambition every 5ime we reach the top flight. The kast 4 promotions to the Top tier have been achieved under John Harris, Dave Bassett, Neil Warnock & CW. These exceptional managers achieved miracles with very average budgets & limited funds

If SUFC were a little tin-pot team with a small fan base, my expectations would probably be on the low side.
We are not a small side, we are a club based in one of England's largest Cities. We always attract crowds larger than half of other teams. So WHY WHY WHY are we ALWAYS the least competitive club every time we reach the promised land. WHY?

This is where my 'doom & gloom' comes from because it always ends the same. Hope i am wrong this time.
