I think this is a thing that teams do when they get knocked out of the cup. They convince themselves that they were playing Barcelona and not the reserve side of whoever they actually played. Last season I remember the teams that we managed to beat in the cup doing the same. Leon Clarke and Ravel Morrison played FFS!

It's a fair point regarding the strikers, one which I've made for a while, but it's also fair to make the point that we have a settled (outfield) defence and midfield which didn't need investment (in the first team). We've also got no sell-ons coming our way, unless someone goes after Brooks.

I do think, given the run of fixtures we have, we could really use 3 points from Villa. I'd not want to go into the Leeds game without a win. I can see that being very close. Then we have Arsenal, Fulham, Liverpool and City.

It’s just a suggestion but we do seem to take a couple of games to get going and bearing in mind we have been doing this with a lot of the same players since league 1, it would seem this is true. Chris outlined how he likes to build the minutes up in games for his players. I think other teams are either involved in tournaments or preliminary Europe rounds. Maybe in time with more money and experience in this league this won’t be a factor.

1. we just got ~ £119m for finishing in top half of the Premier League. Add a few million for shirt sponsorship etc.

How I see things, we are playing in the best league in the world. If it was easy to get here, we would have small, badly run clubs like Sheffield Wednesday in it.

If it was easy to stay in the premier league, we would see the likes of Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth still here. It is fine margins and a 17th place finish would still be fantastic. Until we get a filthy rich owner we will always be on a tightrope. Some supporters need to get used to this fact.

Last season we lost 3 of the first 4 league home games and played crap in the LC losing 1-0 to at home to League One Sunderland.

We're a sluggish 6 minutes and the luck of the draw in a penalty shoot out away from a solid start.

Look atthe direction of travel rather than the results. If we'd played shite then yes, time to start wetting the bed. But we haven't. We've played really well and for the first time since league one have 18/19 players who can fit in and we don't notice a drop off.

Let's see how we are after 10 games before we start worrying.

The performances have been fine.

We got stunned in the first 6 minutes with some poor individual mistakes from JOC (no pre season) and Lundstram (1 game in preseason), and then our second string with 5 debutants and only 1 carry over from the Wolves game, lost to a strong Burnley side which was about 75% or their starting Premier League line up.

This forum makes you want to reach for the cyanide sometimes, Jesus. What did people expect? To be challenging for the league this season?

Wolves did the double over Man City last season and have strengthened. Burnley finished level on points with us, was always going to be tight.

Fair play mate I was being a bit of a happy clapper. If I'd realised we'd lost 4 games and drawn one in the space of 90 minutes I'd have grasped the terrible run we're on. Down by the end of October.
