Nope. Blackwell slowly fucked the team up. He let all the best players leave (with the help of McCabe) and slowly replaced them with garbage. As Blackwell stamped his authority on the team the team got worse. After 2 and a half seasons he left us with a poor set of resources. Blackwell sold off most of the talented/creative players (although he had his hands tied with many I admit) and replaced them with talentless work horses.



Nope. This is a forum and of course I am entitled to post what I like, within the rules. I can't understand this back lash to me pointing out a few home truths. All I ask is for you to take a step back, take your red and wite spec off and listen to what I am saying. If you choose to dismiss it then that's fine.



Red and white specs is a metaphor to seeing everything in red and white to be rosy and great. It's like the polar opposite of the 'sunshine band' or being a 'knocker'. Is it arrogant to refer to a poster as a 'knokcer' or member of the 'sunshine band'?



I keep stating the uncomfortable truth, with a mixture of my own opinions. When I state my opinion I do it constructively. Unfortunately most of the clappers get upset and throw insults at me.

Now that Bert has retired from Bert plc he has taken to treading on the toes of flip-flop wearing students, especially those wearing grey wooly "Smurf" hats.

What is it with them wearing hats in the summer, I've seen them in shorts, T-Shirt and wearing a scarf at the same time too. Dont they realise they wont feel the benefit come winter?

Have you managed to think of one person on here who thinks that everything is rosy at the club yet? There's loads of 'clappers' on here, or apparently so anyway, shouldn't be too hard for a smarter than the average bear lad like you.

Hasn't turned to abusive yet in my eyes the odd f-e-c-k-o-f-f- never hurt anyone, i take things to heart lately but think thats just me having a new born in the house. I have invited myself into the sunshine band so here goes. All is not right at BDTBL at the moment, whether speed is right for the job remains to be seen however if he is not backed by the board so he doesn't stand a chance anyway. This squad isn't good enough and we have little chance of a playoff place which looking at the crowd last sat i am not the only one who thinks that. Don't care what people say but blackwell was backed by the board and wasted all the cash on crap. Speed is now left with that crap and has a thankless task seen as the club is apparently skint, i originally predicted a 10th finish and have since revised that to 15th due to the poor squad size and quality. We have to rely on loans and we saw what that did last season. Good look GS your going to wish you gave Swansea a crack.

I don't see why we are being written off so quickly even by ourselves. The improvement is there to see already and it's not like we don't have footballers who can play. Quinn used to be able to play football but was ruined.. Let us hope Speed can get it back out of him and hopefully Williamson won't be too long behind him. Now the window has closed it now comes clear how unrealistic it was to pick up talent because of the 25 man squad law because most teams haven't filled them. I am not sure but can we short term loan players who are named in a premierleague team? then give them back if needed?

But only because I am delusional, or, perhaps more truthfully, full of Stones best Bitter whenever I watch them and of course the rose tinted specs and finally a belief things could be worse, I could be Silverfox!!!!

How much abuse did I get for my words of wisdom 'let's not get carried away'???! Then low and bhold United get beat 4-0 at home by the worst team in the league. I merely try to bring a bit of reality into debates, but cheaps as chips mark II's boys did that tonight. Is that the worst home result in the last 10 years? Was I wrong to say 'let's not get carried away'?? Once again I find myself saying I told you so.

I could have started a new thread, but the title of this one seems pretty appropriate. Sure a last minute goal by Yeates has given us a bit of a lift, but here are the reasons why I won't be getting carried away:

- Simmonsen is looking more like a replica of Mark Bunn, rather than a replacement for Kenny. Big money for him to cost us points every other game.
- School boy defending. How long do we have to put up with this terrible defending. Once agin we throw away points with defending that would look bad down at Pittsmoor when the u11's are playing. Big earning Nosworthy is simply terrible and Jordan is giving him a run for his money. I feel for De Laet, Bartley and Morgs who have all played well at times, but there teams mates have let them down with shocking errors.
- Poor big earners. Nosworthy, Monty, Simmo and Creswell: 4 of the biggest earners all playing like headless chickens.
- Our inexperienced manager seems to resort to Blackwell's traits when under pressure. 4-5-1 at home isn't working, Monty only got dropped because he was injured and why wait until you are 2 down before you change things?
- other teams: Pompey won again and Sven will pull Leicester out of trouble. Palace, Scunny, Preston and Bristol will all be looking at us and thinking they can finish above us.
- we were at home today. A point wouldn't have seemed a bad result before the game, but our home form remains poor. We now have 2 difficult away games coming up.
- lack of movement in the transfer market. Don't need to emphasise this.

Sure we showed spirit, but spirit alone won't keep us in the Championship. I think Speedo should get on the blower to Irvine, Robbins and/or O'Driscoll to try and learn how to play football and get results, rather than using the tricks of the trade he learnt of his old boss.

Perhaps I'm just ranting because I've not made great progress on my shed and our lass is giving me stick. Cool Clint called me at half time and said he saw Blackwell's wife was still making the pies and that really got on my tits too.

So you was not there to see it, but can give a full appraisal on what went wrong despite not seeing it.

It's not a slight on many on here who don't get to games and post regularly about United, but i can't grasp on how you know exactly where it all went wrong despite not seeing it.

Irvine plays terrible negative football and O'Driscoll took a good 6 months for results to start coming. Barnsley stand a whole 3 points above us and finished 11 points below us last season.

I questioned if the first two play football and get results while highlighting that SoD took quite a while to alter the style and for results to come.

It wasn't rocket science.
