As far as I recall United rolled their debt for building the hotel into an 18-year loan as per the last set of accounts.
Not only would it be remarkable for Copthorne to cover all the building costs without wanting to own the darn thing but I don't recall any suggestion in the accounts that the agreement was for Copthorne to cover this entire outgoing.
If you wish to believe this liability is covered by Copthorne for the next 18 years, knock yourself out.

I never said I believed anything I just made a suggestion of a possibility.
Copthorne will be paying rent for the Hotel, this will surely cover a large portion of the monthly cost to United if not all of it.
I wouldn't think Copthorne would have an agreement with United for the full term of the loan period but they will have a set term agreement and thus while they are in residence will be footing a large portion of the loans cost to United.
and who ever replaces Copthorne after they leave (if they don't choose to continue with a new term) will do the same.

All assumption's from me, but in my mind quite reasonable ones.

Strangely though, United were down as providing a significant number of hotel employees in the last set of accounts which suggests other liabilities for us.

Clint, keeping it simple, when the hotel cost around £20m in itself, how do you possibly arrive at us owing £2.8m?

Who cares? great game today great entertainment. if your not bothered about the premiership then shut up and be satified with the occational game like that and be satisfied.

This is just ridiculous. I don't just make figures up. My sources are the accounts. What figures are you uncertain about? WHat are the fictitious figures you refer too? That is a very easy question to answer. Total debt? Total assets? Bank debt? West Ham debtor? Realty debt? Realty assets? All pretty clear in the accounts.

I have no idea about the repayment terms of certain loans but surely nobody can believe Copthorne are paying for the hotel. That has really given me a good laugh though that Sensible Blades believe that could be the case.

That's very amusing as usual Duncs but can we just clarify that when people like Swiss are claiming that people come out with speculation/hunches but claim they are facts, I don't do that?

I am 100% in agreement that our loan interest could have gone down in last few years. I personally believe they are more bank loan in nature (ie fixed) rather than a variable rate interest only mortgage.

That is correct Cool. Can I make myself any clearer? I have no idea what the terms of any of our bank loans are.
