Lys Mousset’s big toe

Up to finding this out about Moose, I was happy with our transfer policy under Covid of a stricter budget. If this keeps him out for 2-3 months we need to spend and get two St's in, Brewster on a perm and a decent one on loan. Moose on his day is by far our best St and we need an alternative

Unfortunately Moose getting injured doesn’t mean the budget has improved, it does not work like that.

The fact that Mousset has a potentially long term injury makes it even more ridiculous that we haven’t brought in a proven striker yet.
Ridicules no, inevitable yes. I’ve said it on many threads HRH is a great sports fan and I believe a blade through and through now but he doesn’t have then finances to compete at the PL level plus his attentions and funds are spread across clubs in Belgium and the USA.
The board are expecting CW to do it on a shoestring again until funds are generated but it’s a self defeating prophesy as the costs of players and wages will keep outstripping the prize money. Especially without gate receipts.
Harsh as it sounds if he cant afford to be a real PL owner not just a FIFA gaming junky as much as a nice guy sportsman he is he should sell To someone who can compete off the pitch. We’ve suffered with McCabe expecting Warnock to make do and mend and whilst £50m/ season sounds a lot it’s not enough at this level.
Now we are trying to get a “promising unproven youngster” from a PL club by trying to convince them that because we developed a Hendo for another top 6 club they should let us do it for them cause we can’t afford to buy him or anyone else. Meanwhile we are being undermined by Brighton, feckin tin pot Brighton and Villa who havecash but no feckin idea.
We‘ve arrived at the promised land but even CWAK can’t feed 5,000 with scraps. Fund it or find someone who can, love in is over. Tonight we watched a championship side with a few stars studded through it.
Feckin rant over, now I can sleep.

This is really unfortunate. Whatever else about Mousset's attitude there have been a lot of circumstances going against him during his time here.

Sadly, this injury means its highly unlikely we're going to see Mousset reach his full potential with us this season. He has fitness issues at the best of times and this is a major setback. I think we'll look to move him on in the Summer as he'll then be entering the final year of his contract.

I didn't know Moose was injured till I saw this thread. I think that's very unfortunate and I'm sure no player wills themselves to be injured. If I'm totally honest, I didn't think he'd be fit to start the season, nothing to do with the injury, just his past track record of not being fit enough to play football at the start of a season. I thought he'd come back from Le Havre, or wherever it is that he's been, having ate too many croque monsieur's and need some extra conditioning to get him ready.

I was once given some advice, when I first became a manager, and that is, "past performance is the best predictor of future behaviour". In other words, if you want to know how someone is going to turn out in the future, look at what they've done in the past. In Moose's case, what he's done in the past is show glimpses of brilliance, interspersed with long spells of nothingness. I'm expecting more of the same.

Which is why I said on here several weeks ago, "If you were Wilder, would you want to stake your reputation on him coming good?".

I know I wouldn't - and I'm sure Wilder isn't relying on him either. Which is why we are trying to find a more reliable, youthful, option up front, that offers us a bit of pace.

Hope the lad's toe gets better soon and that he makes his way back into the squad. But this could be a case of the club having advanced faster than him in the end.

Name a “proven striker” of premier league quality who would be around £20m and reasonable wages.

This news has Rob Hulse written all over it. Not the players fault that some fucker stamped on his toes but all we have left is a 35yr old plus a striker who doesn't score and McBurnie both of which are coming back from knocks and short of match practice. We desperately need to loan a striker and to buy a striker because lose the next two games and we will be in deep 💩

Yay, that's the spirit!

There were plenty on here who said we didn't need to improve on the first team, how many of the first team from last season started tonight?

Progress or face a relegation battle. When Billy Sharp and Lundstram are starting you can be damn sure we've not progressed. That's a big worry.

Fuck me, feel for him, we really could have done with some of his attributes, because Sharp and McBurnie offer next to nothing as a pair.

Having said that, an injury free Moose with several months training behind him could barely shift after being on the pitch for five minutes anyway. We needed a striker, this just forces the matter.

We’ve played OnE gAmE against Portugal Wanderers and every single one of your posts is dystopian! My advice for you is to stay off social media for at least 48 hrs, watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix. If that doesn’t help, seek medical advice

Your right pal, he's the one player I look forward to seeing on. And yes when he's fit and heads in right place he's a menace. But doesn't seem like he wants it to me, seems to get injured or not match fit abit to often.
Anyone who thinks Mousse is the answer live in cloud cuckoo land.

Out for 3 months evidently so knowing how long it will take him to get fit after that and shed the stone he will have put on it will be February before we see him anywhere near ready for selection....

I don't recall many saying that we didn't need to improve the team, and Wilder himself has never sat still in regards of his recruitment. But you don't just toss aside a group of players who finished 10th in the world's toughest league, head and shoulders above their fellow promotees and the vast majority of supposed expert predictions. All of us want to see season on season improvement, but it's a big leap in my opinion to suggest that we are suddenly relegation candidates.

I am fairly sure that if Wilder had his way then Sharp and Lunny wouldn't have started last night but it looks like a combination of injuries with existing players and lack of mach fitness for the new lads made the choices for him. Sharp actually did well too.

Picks up too many, can't last 30 mins in a friendly without using gassing, mardy arse need I go on. He is not taking us forward.

No, you don't need to go on. When your response to someone who's just had surgery is "bad attitude" we've all heard enough.

Have I missed something, why did Wilder feel that he needed to apologise to LM in that interview?

Not just me getting Deja vu then, McBurnie as of now is our only genuinely premier league quality striker if he gets injured we are well and truly up the shit creek.

So now down to the Prince board and Wilder to show ambition and sort it.

Are you feeling better now you have woken up today ?

I have been wondering why CW in his post match interview felt the need to publicly apologise to Mousset? Is this an injury that has been going on for a while and been missed by the medical staff? Has CW had a pop at Lys for lack of fitness when he had an injury slowing him down? Seems a bit strange to me that he should be apologising unless something has gone off between the two. I think it is fair to say Lys has been below par since late last season could this unusual injury have something to do with it?

That toe injury wouldn't have happened if he wasn't wearing those poncey boots that they all wear now that resemble slippers. Get some Adidas World Cups on Mousse! ;)
