At least he's got a great name for anagrams. There's hundreds of them

Here's just a few:
Rapier Loan In
Airline Rap On
A Plainer Iron
Aerial In Porn
Arena Lion Rip
Anal Rapier In
Alien Iran Pro
Alpine Roar In
Inane Oral Rip

And I bet we could make a few songs with his name in...

"Who needs Mourinho, we've got Parrin-i-o" Thats a quick un for starters

We currently sit bottom of the goals scored ttable with a pathetic 5 goals in 9 games. Since Speed has taken over we've signed a keeper and 2 defenders. Perhaps this guy is good at attacking headers from corners??!

Hmmm, not sure this is appropriate here. Perhaps speed thinks that we can stay up by suring up the defence and drawing every game 0-0. I suppose we'll sneak the odd 1-0 win and concede the od goal. But if we rack up 25 draws and about 4 or 5 wins they we'll probably be safe.

Personally I'd sooner try and score goals to win games, but (as many posters keep telling me) Speedo knows more than I do. Hence I'll sit back and watch us fail to hit the back of the net and remain patient that he may eventually move into the market for an attacking, creative player.

Suring up the defence? Come on SV, let him have it.......

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist mounting one of your many hobby horses. Why don't you sit back and see what happens, no need to pre-judge it? You're inferring that you don't really believe Speedo knows more than you do, because if he did, he'd already have signed the attacking creative players that you've identified, with all your knowledge, as a requirement.

We need those, but that doesn't mean that we don't need defenders, they're dropping like flies at the moment.

How long have we been crying out for a great cabeceador who is bold with the ball on the foot and is of great hierarchy in the playground?
Since ten minutes before we signed him.:D

He is an Argie though, and all Argentinian footballers are great. They tend to fall into on of these groups: Short-arsed geniuses - Maradona, Messi, Ardiles - or big gangly hairy buggers - Villa, Kempes, Gutierrez - ugly little fuckers - Tevez - or downright dirty bastards - all of the rest of them. I wonder which sort we'll be getting? We've had the mercurial short-arse before.

Spanish or Italian ancestry most likely. Hopefully he doesn't have one of these dodgy Italian passports!

I have one of those!? ;)

Are you happy that Speed's first 3 signings have all been defensive minded squad players?

Are you happy that Speed's first 3 signings have all been defensive minded squad players?

I'm not what you'd call ecstatic, but neither am I unhappy. Maybe the players he's signed have been the only ones available and affordable so far? It would be lovely to go to the box marked "out of contract creative and cheap midfielders" or get a striker from the Premier League who fancies a massive drop in wages for a few years, but these tend to be few and far between. Speed has only been the manager for a few weeks, so pehaps expecting him to sign a whole new squad by October may have been a little unrealistic. And the way things are going at the moment I think the club would be trumpeting any signing as good news, even if it was a cross-eyed lesbian with a wooden eye and a glass leg.

I was under the impression that the club wanted to move forward this season without relying on loan signings

Who else should we play at centre half then, if we don't borrow anyone?

Are you happy that Speed's first 3 signings have all been defensive minded squad players?

That's a loaded question. A more balanced and objective one might be:-

What do you think of Speedo's frst threee signings?

That would allow me some scope to come up with my own conclusion. My view is that we need defenders, because the squad is thin and we've lost players through injury, so it makes sense to strengthen. I'm fairly patient and look forward to news of further signings, hoopefully some creativity and forward running.

I already told you that, but it probably doesn't coincide with your view, so you've asking a distorted question.

However, if Speedo now comes out and says there won't be any more signings, he always knew he could only have three and he's got them, I would review my stance and let you know.

Young Lowton can play at centre half,so to could Ertl.My point being though why do the club come out with statements like that.Whilst knowing full well thats what they intended to do.

Pathetic. Your beating around the bush because you can't answer the question without looking like you agree with me (low and behold).

So come on Trig, what do you think of Speed's first 3 signings???

Yes, because thats where we've needed players the most.

what a reserve keeper and then another right back when we already have Calve and Kozluk?!

I've told you twice already, I think that's enough, I'm not beating about the bush.

SwissBlade's answered you as well and you're not happy with his view either.

I think your insistence on hammering home your view says rather more about you than it does about Speedo's signings so far.

Gentlemen please, play nicely now ----Sound familar Im off to put my frock on:D
Big center back going up for corners, more goals than anyones favorite stricker, Pressure for places from the back.
good signing i'd say

Yes... You asked the question Ollie, I know who the players are that he's signed and I know who the other fullbacks are. Shall I expand? Ok then here goes for the umpteenth time :)

Problem:
Last season we moaned that our squad was too small
We had Keeper issues and rarely had competition
Too many players weren't flexible enough to play a variety of positions.
Defensively we weren't what we were and lost our "difficult to beat tag"

Solution:
We've got plenty of back up at the back.
We now have 3 keepers
With the exception of Morgs and Taylor, the rest of the defenders can play at least two positions in the back 4 (even if you don't think they're good enough like Kozzy)
Defensively we're becoming tighter than McCabe in the Transfer market! Ok Scunny was a one off, but most of the time we're tight at the back.

The fact that we lost 2 defenders on Tuesday and had the bench options to replace them suggests that we're wise to keep the defensive policy up.

I've said on a number of occasions that we need to sort things out at the back before we start experimenting with creativity.

The bigger picture in my opinion is this. Yes I'd love us to get more creativity in midfield, on the wings because I think Ched and Boggy have goals in them.]

Maybe once we get a strong defence that the team trusts, then we can look to get creative and play 4-4-2, until then i'm happy to keep strengthening defensively

Young Lowton can play at centre half,so to could Ertl.My point being though why do the club come out with statements like that.Whilst knowing full well thats what they intended to do.

Ertl can also play in midfield. Ertl is arguably best deployed in midfield. So why not let him get on with that and put a proper centre half at centre half?

Perhaps Lowton can't be trusted with an extended run in the team yet after his naive red card? Perhaps he might be better deployed as a right back, so why not put a proper centre half at centre half?

Im pretty sure that Kozluk is injured at the moment.

GS has already come out and said that we lack pace and he would ideally like to bring in someone to compensate for that, since then Morgan, Kozluk and Bartley have all got injured which, given the thinness of our squad anyway, means its pretty sensible to get some defensive cover in IMO.

I would also imagine that GS would like to get his targeted loan player(s) in from October onwards so that they can be here for the hectic Christmas schedule. He's already said he's hoping to have some news after the international break so why dont we see what happens?

I don't think we can afford to leave Lowton out. As the number of loanees once again starts to rack up, the value of promising players we actually own becomes ever more stark.

It's almost like last season didn't happen isn't it?

well lets see olle, not perhaps my first choice signings but considering last seasons fun with defenders, i think speed is planning for defensive contingencies yes we need attack minded players but not much good scoring 2 if opposition score 4?
as for wright a shrewd bit of work by speed maybe, an ex international keeper as back up AND coach for young keepers?
right backs well you mention kozzie but isnt he also injured ?
calve looks great but doesnt seem to have stamina and much better going forward than actual right back defending.
build from the back is not just a metaphor for team play its also for get defence right and if opponants cant score surely we have a better chance of winning 1-0 than coming from 2-0 down to win it?
we are after not the highest scorers in the league as you keep reminding everyone.
tho before spanking leciester 6-1 i believe pompy were very low scorers and NO wins.
food for thought ;)

Given that we had only Lowton or Kozzy at right back, Morgan injured and then Kyle now out wouldn't you say it was where we currently needed them?

Because the first lot of loan signings were made by a previous manager.

I don't think Speed would of gone for Nos for example but is now stuck with him for the season.

Another point would be that we are trying to play a different style of play.

Our defence didn't have too many members who could get the ball and play out from the back, this has been evidence recently.

While I would also say that Monty is also ill at ease with this style we are starting in the place that needs it the most.
