I am getting slightly worried. Two weeks away and our squad is wafer thin. Losing out on Robison (albeit to silly wages) and now potentially missing out on Cash, it's getting worrisome.

So the question I pose - if we just don't have the funds to compete with other clubs, why do we fish in the same market? Should we be scouting and investing in other markets? I don't know much about the scouting group, but how established are we in the other leagues?

That being said... Super fucking excited for the new year. Just hope we can stay healthy. UTB!

It is me, a little. Not that the club are at fault, in anyway. We seemingly set our stall out fairly early doors: Swift, Robinson, Cash - promising youngsters who can grow with us, grow in value and eventually become staples of our side. The right price, sizeable investment for our club, but...

I agree with you. I am slightly concerned that we're struggling to complete deals and being gazumped by rival clubs. I've also suggested that we need to widen our scouting network as we can't compete with players that other Prem clubs want.

But I must also concede that I agree with the incoming responses about there being 5 weeks left of the window, let's wait and see, in Wilder we trust etc...

I think there may be some better business to be done at the end of the window when Championship clubs realise they need to raise funds to avoid FFP / stay on business. Particularly if the covid situation worsens in the colder months and the likelihood of crowds returning lessens.
You may find prices dropping and with the other clubs hopefully all spent out we may have our pick of a slightly improved market. The players may not be the A list names, but there could be some bargains to be had which can - at least - improve our backup options.

The thing is, nobody actually knows what is going on in terms of transfers, its just pure speculation on behalf of the media to sell advertising and by the ITK to get likes.

One things for sure, Wilder et al will be working hard and doing everything they can to get the players they want into the club. Part of that process will sadly not include, daily or hourly updates via social media, about how those plans are working out.

So as frustrating as it is, maybe we should all relax and wait to see what happens, safe in the knowledge that our manager wants the club to recruit players that will strengthen the starting eleven, every bit as much as we do.

Didn't Wilder just say yesterday even he was getting frustrated with the lack of action in the transfer market?

Surely if he's frustrated, we can also be frustrated lol.

I do agree about getting in some better/more scouts tho. If i remember correctly previously we were using some super computer analysis software to determine players who could fit our system.

Not sure that's the best way to do things personally.

I don't recall CW being quoted as saying 4 x incoming signings should be done this week? I recall seeing that he stated that there should be some business done this week (I expect 1 or 2 incomings) but not four.

Maybe another 4 in total by the end of the window?

I'm sure that the lads who did the business last season will do the same this season,baring injuries and suspensions.

There will come a point in the season when said players might look a bit tired,and we have the new year window to freshen things up if needs be.

All clubs down the bottom half of the table are looking at the same players, then becomes a bidding war on wages if there's interest which rules us out.

Shows how outstanding our last season was on our tiny budget by PL standards, wasn't even a top 3 championship budget I'd say.
