The £18.5m fee includes the 15 per cent sell-on clause United inserted into the initial deal between the two clubs.

Does this mean he would have cost £21.27m if we had not got the sell on clause ?

That's how I understand it from the reports, we're paying up to £18.5m including add ons and we're not receiving a sell on clause payment/discount.

So if say Villa wanted to hijack the deal they'd have to offer 15% more on the initial fee and add ons to match our offer.

Another Blade comes home.

He has some big shoes to fill from the last 2 seasons, but will want to do make his mark as our No.1.

A very good signing imo.

Btw, can we change the thread title? We're already diabolical at name spellings as a fanbase without encouraging another one.

It’s actually what’s holding up the deal. Apparently in the latest round of negotiations he uttered “I’m only going to enable this rumour thread to be green ticked if the mods sort out the spelling.” Wilder hadn’t got a clue what he was talking about, so is starting to look at other targets.

That's it, lots going up.

Fairly sure the Star said its not as much as the £18.5m that was mentioned in the national press. I know that the Star has its detractors but JAmes Shield probably knows more than most.

Fee "around £10m".....

If that is the only guarenteed amount we have agreed to shell out then it's an absolute steal whichever you way you look at it.

We have got a 22 year old English GK who has represented England at every level up to U21, has just played a full season in the premier league and been named POTY.

Very similar situation to Pickford when he was at Sunderland and he cost Everton £30m.

Even if we end up paying the full £18.5m it will mean him, and us, will have been a real success and he will be worth every penny.
