The sell on clause is invalid as well apparently as he's coming back to the club which sold him.
£6 or £7 million too much in my opinion. Wilder must rate him though, so if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.
Where is the rule that quotes that ?

Bit underwhelmed. Asked a Bournemouth fan about him:

"Fee is £18.5mil and your lot waiving the sell on fee of 15%, so £21mil to anyone else.
Yes, he won player of the year, but everyone (maybe except for Ake) had a shocker.
He’s an ok keeper, but not been that impressed with him. We have Travers who was fighting for the No.1 spot so really good fee tbh.
Not good in the air, or free kicks, ok shotstopper
Kerching!"

One down 5 or so to go

Just need:

Cash
Swift
Robinson
Striker
and er, possibly another striker

That fee for Ramsdale surely has to mean that those below are going to need to be sold to help the budget bring in others. I wasn't expecting that sort of fee for Ramsdale. Bit surprised tbh, despite him looking decent

CR
LF
JL
Poss LM

Knowing that Watkins is no longer a realistic target, who the fk are we in for that will improve us up front?

2 quick points

1. not bothered about the fee, that neither diminishes or enhances his ability.
2. everyone’s saying he’s a PL keeper, din’t stop B’mth getting relegated no matter how good he is. If we’ve spunked the money on him at the expense of a striker and creative midfielder I’m worried. Those last three games made us look like relegation fodder and we need good outfield as well as cover for those players. We got lucky last year with hardly any injury or disciplinary absences. We won’t ‘get lucky’ twice.

Slap another centre half or two on that with us having no competition/back up for Bash or Egan... ;)

So in real terms, who comes out better?

I don't have the Turkish league detailed OPTA data unfortunately! But Ramsdale seems a pretty average keeper, at least statistically. Cakir seems interesting, but more risk (e.g. new to the league and country). If we go for Ramsdale (which now looks likely) Cakir has also been linked with Chelsea, Brighton, Leeds I think and will probably be the Turkish national team #1 in the future.

Fair points tbh

Ramsdale was sold on deadline day in January 2017 for £800k- £1m. He wasnt in the first team, so was no real loss at the time.

That summer, after promotion, one of our first signings was Enda Stevens on a free. The Ramsdale money probably covered that.

So; fast forward 3 and a half years and we’re forking out £18.5m for Ramsdale. But think of it another way; we got a player who has been worth his weight in gold and contributed (and continues to do so) immeasurably in our rise through the leagues for next to nothing.

So if you’re really not happy with paying that much out for Ramsdale, just pretend we paid £18.5m for Enda Stevens instead.

What nobody has mentioned up to now is his wages.
At Bournemouth he was only on £3k a week, not sure what his wages are now but compared to Cakir and Henderson saving a fortune in wages

From a Chesterfield fan who used to work with me "He was very good after a shaky start, had a nightmare debut at Accrington"

Confirmed by who LB89?

(and please don't say "by me" 😁 )

Haha, just on the wind up. But Shield has been fairly tapped in over the past couple of weeks for info and has always said Ramsdale is the one for us at GK. No mention of Cakir. He also had Lundstram on the transfer list first.

To be fair, the lad is only very young in goalkeeper terms anyway, he could go on to be an exceptional keeper for us. He loves the club which is a great start. Its just the fee I feel that people are upset about which is irrelevant really

He wasn't my first choice but wtf do I know. He's still a young lad, most keepers peak around 30! Bound to improve and I'm sure the coaches will already have a plan on what he needs to improve on.

Got total faith in CWAK. Sure 18.5m seems a lot but with his wages accounted for it won't be as much as other options in the long run.

Saw we were linked with Etheridge the other day so it could always be worse.

I'm not going to try to convince myself I'm thrilled with this signing if it happens, but CW has more than earned trust in his decisions.

Excellent compilation from last season. Looks quality to me.

Lots of routine saves you'd expect any keeper to make there but does spread himself well and good stops with his feet too. A bit Peter Schmeichelesque at times.

Yep, agreed.
Got to hope Darren Ward will sort out any issues quickly.
Those last three games from three average teams taught us some lessons that the management need to pick up on - in effect, how we convert minimal chances into goals and look like creating even a few more chances.

So it's welcome and good luck to Ramsdale and also good luck to Hendo wherever you end up on loan - hopefully abroad - would hate to see him at another PL club playing against us. Pickford is only just PL standard so only Pope to get in front of.

For all the stats people, it’s based on ONE season. And a season where he played for one of the worst teams in the league. I’m fully bought into the stats side of things but I think you need to go deeper than that on this and actually just watch the guy play.

Think it's important to note that none of the stats people are quoting say Ramsdale is a bad keeper. They show he was round about middle of the pack for the whole Premier League last season. Henderson was a top 5 keeper on most metrics, but signing Henderson permanently is never going to be an option.

New goalkeeper kit possibly to be released on Monday with Sheffield United new No 1 goalkeeper Ramsdale🤔
Simon Moore you time is up
