One thing this does do is open up another loan slot.

Assuming the rules are the same; 2 allowed from other PL clubs. By the glowing terms both Klopp and Guardiola have spoken about us, Wilder and the way we play, plus the fact neither will see us as rivals, surely we’d have to be a very appealing choice to send a quality loanee to? Thinking specifically about Brewster, but Im sure there are others.

This could end up being the solution at both ends of the pitch.

Cant believe people are upset at this buy young keeper who was in a shit team of defenders in front of him and pulled of some brilliant saves he was in the top 5 keepers this year .Henderson made a fair few fuck up this year and his kicking was wank most of the time I think this lad will be on a per if not better in a few years time

I've got to say that if this goes through I will be delighted.

We were reluctant to sell him in the first place but needed the money to strengthen the team elsewhere.

He's a good young English goalkeeper that has played for the national team through the age groups

He's well known to the club management and coaches, so no risk of him not fitting in.

He knows the club inside out, so no unexpected shocks for him too.

He may not be at Henderson's level yet but he's not far off it, (I think a lot of our fans overate Henderson as they did Blackman before him) and he definitely has the potential to be as good as if not better than Henderson.

We would own our own keeper and have much more control of own destiny than we had whilst renting a keeper from Man U.

The fee is irrelevant, if we want the player (any player) then we have to pay a figure that is acceptable to the selling club in order to get him. It beats me that some of our fans would be happy to pay £50m and a kings ransom in wages for Henderson, but seem to think £18.5m and wages within our structure is too much for an similar aged and experienced keeper.

Big smiles here if this goes through.
The overcautious 'if this goes through' twice. When from my POV.😎😉

A 22 year old, English, a player of the year in the premier league and some people are disappointed...
I'm disappointed because statistically he was in the mid to lower bottom half in almost every facet of goal keeping last season. I find that worrying, especially for this price. As for English, I couldn't care less, and he was player of the year in a side which went down without a whimper, there werent a great deal of candidates I should imagine.

Hes not a terrible keeper but he does seem to let in a lot of goals he gets hands to.

It is a big downgrade on Henderson so it’s imperative we now get someone in to get us goals up the other end of the pitch as I think we will be conceding a few more next season.

He now has our GK training regime to work with so fear not😎

Sell him for 800k buy him back for 22mill 3 years later, not sure about this one tbh

There's lies, damn lies and statistics.

Top signing, we have our keeper for the next decade now and he's young with premiership experience, knows the club well and wants to be here. What's not to like?

Ignore the fee, Cakir would have been more and hed have a new country, a new language and a new league to adjust to.

This also puts to bed the Henderson circus..and it will be interesting to see where this leaves him.

Well done CWAK on tying this down well before the start of the season....and also very well done the owners in backing the management teams judgement.

Would be a cracking signing possibly just signed the next best English GK prospect after deano and a possible United no1 for the next 10 years.

It is a lot of money for a GK with only one season in the prem but it could potentially be an absoloute bargain if you look at similar player Pickford/Pope

re sell-on clause.

Judging by the tone of the tweet I'd guess that means the deal is £21.75m - 15% = £18.5m.
Hopefully with £5-6m coming our way in a sell on for Brooks it helps fund the deal further.

Ultimately it isn't a lot for a 22 year old goalkeeper, highly rated with a full season of Premier League football behind him.

I don't think he's going to win us points in the same way that Henderson did, but he's low-risk, with potentially a lot of upside and will (as a minimum) be very competent.

Ultimately, we were slightly spoilt with Henderson. We will now need to improve at the other end if we're going to convert as many of those tight games into points.

Happy enough with Ramsdale. Seems a solid move & a good match.

18,5 million is a lot of money for a GK, but Ramsdale is only 22 and already showed great potential in the Premier League. Sure, Henderson is probably the better GK atm but we have to solve the GK position permanently. Not even mentioning that Man Utd asked to cover most of his wages and a big loan fee. I'm more than okay with Ramsdale.

He's a first team premier league keeper who's in his early 20s, who's only going to get better.

Granted its a fair chunk of money, but in todays market not at all outrageous.

Majority on here will not have seen him play apart from odd highlight here and there.

  • Young, loads of potential
  • Possibly No.1 for a decade?
  • Premier League first team
  • POTY

If this was any other player in any other position with the above true, most on here would be nursing a semi!
Some common sense at last

18m for Rambo is amazing business. Well done CW

McBurnie, Mousett, Berge, Freeman and now Ramsdale. CW knows how to throw money away for very average players.
If you look carefully enough, doesn't every manager do that to some extent, even without taking into account the subjective use of 'very average'
