Except for the fact that the Chief Executive has consistantly denied any takeover plans and always labelled any potential incoming money as investment.

Still, Chief Exec out!

KM is seeking a partner not a takeover.

How much money that brings into the club is anyones guess, but personally I don't see it making a significant difference to on-field activities.

There'll be no Abramovich style whirlwind. Imo, just the continuation of a "stable and well run club!"

According to The Star yesterday, due diligence has commenced and it could be a further 3 weeks before we know anything

Based on Arsenal's 25 not having a single Englishman in the squad do we want any money. I say no, stuff the Prem, might as well think about letting the Spanish play for England, we wouldn't even consider that would we?

Money has ruined the game, end of.

Why wouldnt we consider it? Half of South Africa play for England at cricket so its not exactly something we are not used to?

I feel that as footie fans we are left watching mercenaries who have very little affection to the clubs they play for.

Look at the start of a game when the players meet in the tunnel, they all start kissing one another etc, the feeling that you’re taking on ‘the enemy’ has gone and all the passion has gone. The new generation of fans are missing out big time.

Luckily at The Blades we still have players who care about the club but this will change in time and some will call it progress. An influx of players whose names you can’t even pronounce yet alone spell would be shit from my perspective and only alienate the fans even more.

*cough* Theo *cough*

...or are the loan rumours true?

Nowts going to happen of significance until either McCabe lowers the bar or the economy picks up.

"United spent over £2m patching-up their injury hit squad with loans during the previous campaign"

Interesting statement

It is, but i felt that a lot of the loans last season were simply getting bodies in. I think or hope that the loans we'll see this season will be mostly to do with improving the first team squad, rather than getting any old player to patch the team up.

Maybe because Arsenals young English talent is all under 21 and therefore doesn't need to be named in the 25 man squad.
So yes Arsenal have no mid twenties English midfielders in their squad, probably because English players that age aren't technical enough or are stupidly overpriced.
Oh, and Arsenal have hardly spend any money (certainly net spend) for the past 10 years so you can't say they are a product of money. Certainly over that period are massively in profit on sales.

If England do have a bright future it will be thanks to the likes of Arsenal who are producing some of the best, most technical, and skillful under 21's in the country but hey don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.
Finally Arsenal produced as many of the current England squad as any other single team. 3 of the current England squad came through their youth setup at 18 or younger 4 if you include Walcott who's was purchased at such a young age. That would of been 5 if the U21's didn't need Wilshire for their important match.

and the takeover bob?

There never was a takeover, just an investment opportunity linked with taking a percentage ownership.

Talks are continuing but you won't hear anything out of the club because we don't want to seem like that other lot down the road.

It's happening on Friday isn't it? or within 48 hours?
Take your pick of which one it'll be :D

The word I got was that investment was very close to being finalised last Friday. The Malaysian guy got all six numbers in the EuroMillions, but sadly not on the same line...

The investment/takeover is MILES away ! ............ when it happens the crowds may be less than 10,000 at BDTBL

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby we are at odds today it appears.

I think that you will find that Arsenal has spent a vast sum on accumulating all the young talent from around Europe and Africa to feed into it's day care centre, then onto Kindergarten, infants, juniors and ultimately through into the Youf.

Whilst I appreciate that they have a very good coaching (and apparently grooming) set up you cannot possibly state that they have "produced" all these players. The strategy is to get 'em in young before anyone else gets tabs then develop as opposed to shelling out wads to get to the top (a la Citeh have to at the moment) as quickly as possible.

Develop and produce are two different things. Don't underestimate the budget for their Youf development. That budget is probably more than our entire first team wages.

I'm talking the youngsters currently playing at under 19 level for Arsenal most of which are English.

Sanchez Watt, Emmanuel Thomas, Thom Cruise, Chukwuemeka Aneke, Emmanuel Frimpong, Benik Afobe, Henri Lansbury, Samir Bihmoutine, etc.

Arsenal brought in loads of youngsters initially because the English talent wasn't there. They went out and got the 7 year olds and coached them "the arsenal way" from that age and now they are starting to see the results. Give it 4 more years and Arsenal will be producing these kids and the vast majority will be English.
Look through the Under 19's and Under17's sides and if you get chance watch some Arsenal academy games. There touch and technique is excellent and most of them are able to represent England.

Are you saying they didn't produce the likes of Wiltshire or Ashley Cole?

Developed. They get the best talent available because they are Arsenal and develop it. I still see the role of a youth academy being to take LOCAL talent and nurturing it through to the professional game. The vast sums the top clubs have now perverts this process as evident because Arsenal seem to get theirs from a wider net than anyone else.

Don't get me wrong. I think the Arsenal way is the proper way to do it - just that we cannot afford to build something of the same standard or scale, nor compete with the scouting network, nor compete with the draw for the talent they get in.

THOM CRUISE.is that taking the piss or what.i bet he loves his parents for that.the poor child
