Avoiding relegation next season

but in fairness your post was very, very dubious. And then you changed the title and posted it again. It was a typical posting that an 'undercover' Wednesday fan would have tried, I still think you are Wednesday the alternative being you are just daft.
No I'm just a realist we still have a team that has very little pace, and creativity and as much as we slated Warnocks negativity in the prem, Rob hulse still scored more goals than any of our strikers this season and he was injured for the last 3-4 months !!, So if having concerns that an ageing squad of predominantly championship players may struggle next season makes me daft then yes I'm daft

Most of the comments above just seem to confirm to me both the sad situation in this forum + the unbalanced view it gives to people; there are not many of us, who'd dare to challenge anything, because they/we are instantly called pork or some sort of other juvenile names. For Sure, Wilder is the best manager I've ever seen. But infallible/god? I do not think so... What does the 9th place this season exactly entitle us for the next season? Nothing. It's not about gambling, like "only one team in the Premiership having been in the top 10 has been ever relegated..." I mean, who gives a flying **** to such an analysis? It's stupid to begin with, and the PL has been evolving through the years, too. And for ***king sake, all I want to see is Blades winning the PL next year. It's just that I'd only like to have the right to have air my opinions on some things that concern me about next season. And have some resonable debate vs. "CWAK will sort it out"... No, they won't, if they don't have means available. If otherwise, how would you explain that we didn't win the PL this year. And, once more, I'm sick with many of you indicating that I'd be a Wendy fan or so.

If you have an issue with foreigners having followed the Blades since the early 1990's, please tell me so.

It’s going to be incredibly tough to stay up. A lot of our fans will turn delusional and believe we should be a top 10 Side. We need to remember last season may be our highest position for a decade or a few decades.

It’s the fans expectations that need managing more than anything else.

As for the OP, my guess is he just wanted to start a thread but didn't want to start yet another 'let's praise the team/Wilder/ the prince' thread.
why not , what weve achieved on our budget is miraculous

playing at the end of the season in eerie empty grounds was surreal for more than our players
we didnt so much fizzle out as feel unreal , a lot of teams didnt function
we play football with us as the 12th man , no fans no passion
50 per cent of the norm had gone

have people forgotten how we took liverpool and man utd apart at home , only losing to an error to pool

thats not a team that will struggle,

Southampton did the double over us and have been

Genuinely interested as to why you think Southampton maybe worse than us next season, they did the double over us, finished the season unbeaten in 6 or 7, won 5 games post lockdown, including man city, have a 20 goal a season striker and some quality young players, I'd be interested to know what you are basing that belief on , similarly west ham, yes they had a crap start but they have much much more quality than we do all throughout the side
saints only did the double as we had a good goal rubbed out at 0-0 at home
we had nothing to play for at saints,

2nd season syndrome is a myth so don't worry about that. I have no idea where the term comes from and it's just something lazy pundits say. It is much harder to stay up in your first season than your 2nd as stats prove.

We are only 4 days into the transfer window so again I wouldn't worry about the goalkeeper situation either.

Wilder said we wouldn't spend much last season and we spent over £70m so I'd take his comments with a pinch of salt.

No idea why you think some of the starting 11 may need to be sold. If anyone is sold it will be because Wilder thinks the money will strengthen us elsewhere. Just like he did with Brooks.

Nobody knows if the teams coming up from the Championship will be better. Last season 2 of the 3 survived which is rare. Of those 3, Villa were tipped to do the best by a fair margin and only ended up staying up because Watford decided it would be a good idea to appoint 4 managers in 1 season. Villa are one of the worst teams to ever stay up but this time last year most pundits were saying they would have no trouble adapting to The Premier League. Same as they are now with Leeds Meanwhile they were saying we were nailed on to go down. Same as they are now with WBA. Nobody knows how a newly promoted team will react to a higher level until the season starts.

As for teams we could finish above, well there are 11 of them based on this season. Even if you go by the post lockdown table we were 13th. This despite the fact we were playing 3 games a week , had loads of injuries and ended the season with Leon Clarke up front.

We could obviously go down next season. Nobody knows for sure but based purely on logic gained from last season there is nothing at all pointing towards it. The only thing people are basing their worries on seem to be post lockdown form (which wasn't anything like relegation form) and the baseless theory that everyone but us will improve.

“Second Season syndrome” is a result of somebody coming up with a witty take on “second album syndrome” and it’s been repeated that much that we all believe it now.

I must stress that second album syndrome definitely exists, whereas second season syndrome definitely does not.

we lost to just 3 teams below 5th
its how we operate
those we beat couldn't handle us then , if CW tweaks it a bit we might have bigger wins

the season is barely over and the doom sayers are chomping at the bit to find fault
the unless we spend 200m in the next 4 weeks we might as well give in argument is just as invalid next season as it was last

villa spent 3 times more than us and look where they finished

spending for spending sake is not a good idea
Finding fault is constructive but being pessimistic is to self destruct

For all those who worry that having played all the teams twice they will have worked us out for next season, do you not think we might have worked some of them out too.

What utter dog shyte

You're no Finnish.

You're only 28.

Poor wumming on your posting history. The foreigner persona is clever but you need to learn to post some content other than blatent wummery in order for the mask not to slip.

2/10
Did I say I was Finnish?? Must have been dead drunk then. I'm actually 15, and from Barnsley.

This thread is really sad. Just cause someone is pessimistic doesn't mean they are a pig. In-fact I would say that that pessimism makes someone even more inclined to be a Blades fan. :p

What ever, mate. I've been following the Blades from a far since the early 1990's. And I'm not the only one of us who spend years before registering into forums and taking part in discussions. Mostly because it's the kind of sh*te you're sprouting out here. I live abroad, am not an English citizen, spend loads of money supporting and following the Blades - but to you I'm pork. Okay.

If this is the reaction to your first post, I am getting popcorn in for your second :)

Bit of friendly advice - don’t take things too personally, it should a fun forum not a courtroom.

It’s a friendly place and your Blade credentials (if they exist - they most likely do!) will become apparent over time.

Could've been the first thread I ever started, true. And for sure, do keep your popcorn close at hand. Should you believe me, I don't really take things in here personally, but do admit that my response(s) do give that impression. Thanks for the friendly advice. But I must agree to disagree with you calling this a "friendly place". I guess the question comes down to the question what the people/fans here see as friendly. As for my "Blade credentials", I do not feel I own anything for anyone. Know my history, have done my due - and keep doing so. Anyways, enjoy the rest of your weekend. At least your post was half-way positive, kind of.

Wilder also said "no head turning transfers" which apart from being potentially misleading on purpose, doesn't mean we're not spending anything.

No head turning transfers just means no coups, Sander was a head turning transfer, not because of the fee but because he was on the radar of some of Europe's top clubs.

Man U fans thought they'd signed him and were over the moon.
Good job the Mancs had never seen him play I guess.

Good to see a nice message to WestSiberiaBlade from nezimão

"hello westsiberiablade, how are you? exactly where do you live in Siberia? it will be interesting to know. I am in Kiev"

Very harsh to call him pork, totally unnecessary.

Sadly typical of some on here
Some are so dense it must be a struggle to write pork.

Up to the 7th March Norwich game we had 43 pts from 28 games. From the June 17th restart, 11pts from 10 games - the main difference for the drop in points is no fans. So unless there is substantial investment in the team, its likely the same results can be expected and maybe worse as the worlds best league will be countering our tactics. The MoM for that Norwich game was Hendo- thats Norwich, the 6th worst premier league team of all time, and our GK is MoM! So, if we stick with the same squad then we may be in trouble, upgrades/competition are needed in most positions.

I’ll give you that before CWAK, but anybody speaking like that now is either brain dead or uneducated.

Think you could say that for about a dozen or so clubs. I know a lot of our fans will thinking we should be going for Euro spots.
The thing that those clubs obviously need to do is sort find their weaknesses and (try) strengthen in those areas.
From what I've seen of your lot I'd say it's up front for you. Which I think a lot of you have been saying and I'd thought Wilder would know also.
Anyway that's me stating the obvious and hope we play each other in The Premier League for many years to come!

People get called out as being a Wednesdayite because their posts read like the things Wednesdayite's would post if they were pretending to be a Blade and are on the wind up. People who post very little, or have a very sparse posting history, but all their posts are pulling the club down, pulling the players down, predicting misery and failure, are not going to be welcome - not at one of the highest points in living memory. It makes it hard to believe that they are actually Blades and if they are Blades, with that sort of a mentality and those sort of posts - what's the difference between them and a Wednesdayite anyway?
The two moaning on here about being labelled Wednesdayites - one starting a thread claiming Blades were on deludamol, a glance down the other's short posting history shows extreme negativity and the trolling behaviour of a contrarian. If you want to join the community on here, try and be a part of it, not begin by attacking it. Common sense, really.
If you think that means you have to be a happy-clappy, there's really no hope for you.

It would take a juvenile idiot to go trolling on other team's fan forum. The fact that you seem to be so capable to think as to just how such a wind-up merchant would then act like shows real immaturity on your part. I haven't been pulling down the club, as you state, but I'm actually showing concern, because I care for the club. I didn't predict misery, either, just think that the club is in for a much harder test this coming season around. Which is by the way exactly what Wilder said the other day. There are people who tend to be glass half full, and those who tend to have it half empty; it comes with personality and experience. I would not think that one can't support the Blades being a "worrying sort of"/pessimistic - or realistic, as I'd say - a fan. Neither does it make anyone a Wednesdayite. I don't care how long my posting history be, I just think it's common sense that I react when I get concerned (=love for the club). I do reserve the right to go against the grain of the popular posters on this forum - "a contrarian", you say - and I don't see my post(s) as trolling. To ask me/people like me (I really am not the only one) to start with posting positive/delusional messages here in order to be part of this "community" here in the forum really is absurd, stupid and narrow-minded. I haven't exactly attacked this "community" of yours, be it that in retrospect I see I shouldn't have written a couple of lines in my OP. I guess I did it because I knew I'd be hammered by people like you. I'm sorry for that.

You really are very angry and bitter, aren't you? I count three personal insults in a post claiming you are not attacking people, or my community as you put it. As I said in my post, "if you think that means you have to be a happy-clappy, there's really no hope for you", to which you reply "To ask me... to start with posting positive/delusional messages here in order to be part of this "community" here in the forum really is absurd." 😂
I could pull up your previous posts to prove my points, but you're not worth it. If you carry on like this, you won't be around long.

No, I'm not angry nor bitter talking to you (is this the fourth personal insult?). I underscored, purposefully, the thing you call community, because I'm not the only one having a different opinion than you. There are many people following this forum seeing things somewhat like me, at least. It's/It would be a sorrowful community. But hey ho, you guys just want to drive us away... I don't believe for a second that people like me like me wouldn't be sincere following the Blades and wishing all the best for the team, as I am. As for the "personal insults", perhaps you might explain yourself - it's easy to just swipe them away saying they are personal insults. (I did bother to answer your earlier message, which was - at least by the standards you seem to have set - a long, rambling, insulting post about me.) As for me not being around long, depending on the moderators, I should believe they'd let me stay registered here. Obviously I'm not keen on contributing here, so many thanks for "allowing people to have different views" on this forum... What a joke. Have a currywurst and a beer, and calm down.

So transparent, it's unreal.
