I remember when Berge was going to everyone but us as well.

I'm not saying he will come though, I bet it is tough to get a young London lad to move up North, especially if some other clubs are after him, but if he comes - great!
If he doesn't want to come, sod him.

Ultimately we have to generally accept that players will prefer a move to a London club, especially if a player is from the south. We maybe should have signed Eze last year and/or Watkins but we maybe our budget didn't stretch to it and we needed other players more in Wilders eyes.

The London club preference is something even the likes of Liverpool and Man U have to deal with tbf. Just a fact of life.

Wish we had been on a position for Watkins when he left Plymouth.

If I were a young lad earning thousands a week then London is exactly where I’d want to be. Sheffield is great and all but none of the northern cities are a patch on London when you have a few quid in your back pocket.

West Ham must be very attractive if you're a footballer born in Greenwich :(

Seem to recall we were linked, maybe wrong, can't remember. It doesn't matter now of course. We have to try and sign players before they excel in the Championship but then the flip side of that is that they will likely take one or two seasons to adjust and our fans aren't always the most patient!

An example of a slightly less high profile forward in the Championship would be Adam Armstrong from Blackburn. next season I'd expect him to score 20 goals for Rovers as he's scored 16 this year and he's be in the £15-20m bracket. He may be in that bracket now given his age and how mad prices are in the Championship.

I really like Armstrong - rated him when he had those spells at Cov and Barnsley and wanted us to go for him then. He is a bit of a midget though - I think we’ll want someone with a bit more physicality.

Sure I read Knill thought he was the outstanding talent in league 2 when he was at Exeter, but the 2 million fee was beyond us at the time.

Correct. Not be as gutted as Derby though. They had him in the building but pulled out allowing Brentfordalona to pounce.

He's not tall but nor is Billy and he's never lacked strength; I guess also we just need someone to play off the big man, as McBurnie will be the main one for the hols up play. Armstrong's fast as they come from memory. He's clearly finding the net more regularly and always had loads of potential. Problem is he may be beyond our budget based on what has been said, but might be worth the outlay longer down the line. He's got to be more likely than the likes of Watkins and Eze, I know the latter plays in the number 10 role.

Got to put a highlights video on, just because its got to be done! haha. Some really decent finishes, although suspect defending for many of them.

ironically - I was all about us going for Armstrong when he went to Blackburn. I thought he was a great option for the money they paid after flashing for Barnsley.

But we then signed mcgoldrick and the rest is history!

Apparently available for £12-15 million and heading to West Ham according to the Athletic.

Aye, all week it's been he's off to West Ham, I thought it was for more than that though.

As I say, I'll rest easy when he and Cantwell have signed for someone.

My point was more about the value of the deal. At that level he’s definitely worth going for. The fact you could potentially get him and Watkins for £30M shows how nuts the market as a one off this year. Next year they’re £25-30M each.

Oh, I agree that at, say, £13M, even this chump would be worth a punt. I just mean I had read in the last few days that it was going to much more than that, but that was probably paper talk.

Talksport’s QPR guy is saying that they’ve rejected a bid from Palace - believed to be about £12mil.

Apparently they want £20mil, which would be too much for me, even though I’d love to sign him.

He's great in flashes. Could potentially succeed David McGoldrick here in that deep lying, roaming striker role. But I don't mind missing out on him.

His talent and potential is obvious but when I've seen him play he's either been really good or anonymous. I didn't notice that much of a workrate either, especially when things not going his way. He seems more like a West Ham type player.

I'm not sure he's ever played that role has he? On every occasion I've seen him play, he's played either LM in a mid 4 or AML/R in a front 3.

Looks like 'West Ham' are this years 'Villa'.

I can't see this lad leaving London if Palace & WetSham are interested.
And the last creative guy we got from QPR has hardly played.
So it looks an unlikely signing to me.
