Might be worth a shout if we could afford him ?

Only if the shout was:

Steam Community :: :: Fuck Off

😁

Ben Foster & Will Hughes may be attainable from Watford.

Abdoulaye Doucoure & Ismalia Sarr are probably the pick of the bunch but I think will be in higher demand.
Will Hughes could be a great shout for our left to compete with Fleck.
In answer to the OP and Deeney, not for me he’s absolutely what we do not need.

He will captain Watford's promotion push next season, on the same wages as he is on now. Madness.

He's a player I would happily see in a Blades shirt though, and I could see him and Wilder hitting it off.

Not in our price range though.

Wages -25% - usual standard clause in most contracts.

Fair enough, I read (somewhere) though that they were the only club in danger who didn't have such clauses in place. Could be wrong.

If we cant afford that in the Premier League we might as well pack up now.
We can afford it for a couple of players but what impact do you think it will have if we sign someone on treble the squad average?

Wilder, Mitchell, Bettis & Scheiber have their work cut out for them this summer.

He cost fourty million and will be off to a top club
Some of these suggestions are embarrassing
He was more like £25m to be fair. Also dependent on your definition of “top club” he won’t be going to any of the big 6 premier league teams as a starter.

The biggest issue is that he would still command a record fee and is a winger, we don’t play with wingers.

We’re desperate for pace, especially up top, and we have fans who want this ancient lumbering idiot on £60/70,000 a week? Start up the time machine Blades, cos porterfield’s retirement home team of Withe, Thompson, McNaughton etc, is riotously applauding!

Well that is what happens we cant ever expect to get better quality on championship wages.

I am not saying go out and bring in players on 200k a week here I am saying it has to be done gradually.

The players that are already here have to accept that and accept that is the way things are too.

This might be an unpopular choice with some Blades but 10 goals this season in a struggling Watford team (admittedly some pens) and indicated yesterday might be on his way following relegation. Not sure what type of fee would be involved but his experience at the top of the pitch in the PL and leadership qualities could be invaluable.

Pains me to say it but I think he'd be an upgrade on Sharp.

I get that he wouldn't be the most exciting of signings but (£70k per week wages aside, which I was unaware of) Watford finished 11th last season and got to a cup final in which he played a big part. He played well for Watford at the lane. I guess it depends on what role Sharp is seen as having next season - does sentiment overrule the fact that we could probably get an upgrade on him at the top of the pitch?

The rest of them, from what I've seen, are on their way down for a reason.
Foster would be an excellent signing but would prefer someone more long term for GK

Me too. But if we could get a year, or 2 out of Foster and then reallocate those funds to improving the strikeforcetg then I think the overall benefit would be greater.

Exactly what i said if we can get foster for a season or 2 and establish ourselves as a Premier league club then we can really invest on a top class keeper.

To be fair - I not a footballer, so they might think differently to me. But if I was playing for United on £30,000 per week, and let's be honest, with no real guarantee that we will stay in the EPL, and Wilder brought in a brilliant striker like Vardy (no that's not a suggestion) - I'd be chuffed to bits.
He will be the best player on the pitch, score loads of goals, get me a few assists and keep me in a Premier League team, possibly getting into Europe, for the next 4 years.
I wouldn't care if he was on £100,000 per week. It would be different though, if it was one of the players who was already in the team and they got a massive wage rise - that could cause problems.

Agree but agents have made it more difficult as they're constantly in the ear of the player. That's obviously their job but as we too often see, it seems with a number of agents it's about making their own money as opposed to sensible career moves.
