Swift and that Mumin lad are the only 2 names dropped in the media so far, and Mumin is a free agent 🤔

In any case, if we can nail those 2 down it would be a decent start.

Hopefully bids will soon be in for a GK, RWB cover and a new striker, or maybe 2 if Mousse isn't hanging around.

I see your 8 and raise you 10. Replace Zivkovic and dare I say Billy.

Why the remark "dare I say". While I can understand many peoples loyalty towards Billy it has to be said that at this level he is out of his depth. Sad but true.

I'm not quite sure why so many people take what CW says so literally. There would be absolutely no benefit to him publicising the transfer activity until deals are concluded. In fact it would most probably have a detrimental effect by alerting other clubs. Similarly, why on earth would CW publicise the club's budgetary information?
CWAK + the recruitment team aren't daft. They'll know, as will the Board, that better players are required and even though revenue and profit will be well below forecast and that the summer pot was apparently dipped into to land Berge in Jan, I'm sure they'll still be a sufficient amount to allow what CW wants to do. Don't forget that at least 80 of the 91 professional clubs will be in a worse financial state than Utd.
Yes, it may involve a degree of wheeling & dealing including the sale of some players being sold to allow others to be bought, but CW hasn't done a bad job of it so far even though in an ideal world players such as Brooks, Ransdale and DCL would have been retained.
There's no harm in speculating of course but equally, there's no point in getting wound up about things. Let's just see what happens over the next few weeks - I'm sure they'll be some exciting developments that will equip the club well for the upcoming season.

GK (Hendo or similar)
RWB (comp for GB)
LWB (comp for ES)
RCB (replace Rodwell)
CCB (replace Jags)
RMF (comp for Lunny)
ST (replace Robinson)
ST (replace Leon)

I don’t think we really need to replace Leon since he didn’t even make the bench the majority of last season.

We definitely need an attacking midfielder to play the number 10 role.

Guess Swift could do that based on his goals and assist record for Reading. I also really like the lad they had on loan from Liverpool who they say they can't afford now Ovie Ejaria but my guess is that Swift may be the only midfielder to come in, unless its someone who could also play up top, such as Eze (too expensive I would guess in his case).

Agree with all that B4 and Ejaria was very well thought of down here and the Reading supporters I know are gutted they can't afford him - BTW Reading may be a decent bet for relegation next season with all their financial challenges. My only niggling doubt about Swift is that he's naturally another central midfielder and it may be another case of 'square peg, round role' trying to fill that RCM position as it has been with Lundstram and Berge. Surely there must be a dynamic, box to box, right sided player on Paul Mitchell's list

Top of Paul Mitchell's scout list and top of CWs shopping list, should be the words 'Pace' and 'Power'.

I sincerely hope though that we don't end up having a breakdown in communication with Steve Bettis and end up with the legendary 50/60's pair Doc Pace and Austin Powers.

On the bright side, if Doc Pace was having a mare of a game, the question 'where did we dig him up from' being muttered on the Kop, would never be more pertinent.

The players we sign on the left and right side of midfield are essentially still central midfielders and then have the wing backs out wide for that option. But I'd like us to sign someone who can take man on, Fleck does this to be fair, he just seems to glide past players. Basham also does this moarading through, but we need it at the top of the pitch and hopefully Swift, or someone else can provide that creativity. Its diffiult to rly on eye of the needle passes all the time or breaking teams down that sit deep.

Ejaria offers real athleticism if we can sign him, not that we've been linked. From what I've seen I'd prefer to Ejaria to Swift if we were signing just one of them, but maybe Swift fits are system more. Time will tell, and it seems that we'll be competing with Villa and Leeds also, although we seem to be the only ones with a definite bid on the table.

Wilder seems to want mobility which is positive.

John Swift seems an ideal fit for us and I see that as a shoe in.

We obviously 1st XI strikers or a quality attacking creative midfielder to give better service.

NEED new starting GK.

Then we need depth of quality where we can throughout the rest.

obviously starting GK if it’s not possible to get hendo back.

I’d concentrate on finding a creative attacking midfielder as I think our forwards can score if given the right service.

Love to see a bit of Billy bashing (not) 🤔

Nobody's bashing him at all. He is, and always will be, a legend. But he is a bit part player at best at this level and isn't going to improve. He's certainly not the future and we need players who are.

Forget about Swift get Ejaria instead,i know he's only been signed up 3 days, but fuck it.

Saw that and sighed. I would have thought Ejara would have been a top signing for us on what I've seen of him, but I can see Berge making the RCM spot his own this season in fairness. Ejara would have been a great player to develop and have in the squad though.

How much did he cost ?

I know, at that fee its a steal! I don't get why we weren't in for him but maybe we wanted Swift instead, guess that could still happen in spite of the delay.

We couldn't go in for him. It was a clause in the loan deal.
