Not much point in getting a season ticket.

Just thinking about, if we’re at a reduced capacity will the club increase prices for those allowed in?

Some other businesses like pubs and restaurants seem to have increased prices to reflect their reduced capacity, so maybe United will do the same?

In Sheffield 0.71% of the population have tested positive for coronavirus. How many of those who have tested positive actually still have it? So where is the risk?

How much better are we realistically expecting it to get? It seems like we’ve got to wait for zero before we can go to the Lane again.

I realise this thread is about season tickets, so I don't want to take it off down the road of something else, but it's related. The decision on whether to fully open up football stadia to all fans, or restrict capacity, is surely down to the risk of catching coronavirus by being in a large crowd. A month ago we saw these kind of scenes in Bournemouth and other places around the country.

I posted something at the time, saying it would be interesting to see how the gathering of large crowds like this, who were not social distancing, impacted on the infection rate. A month on, here's the answer...

There were NO significant increases in the infection rate as a result. This was monitored in 20 different parts of the country - 13 of them showed no increase at all in the infection rate, 7 showed a slight increase, but still way, way, below that currently seen in some "hot-spots".

To me this is further strong evidence that we do not need to put the nation on hold for fear of spreading a virus that is only affecting a very very small percentage of people and will cause no serious illness to 99% of the population. I fully support the idea that where there are hotspots then more stringent action needs to be taken. But it's time to scrap social distancing altogether for the rest of us, get back to bloody work and enjoy your holidays and your football.

I will be getting mine the day they come out. It isn’t the clubs fault we couldn’t attend the games at the end of the season. They are attempting to compensate us for this as I am sure they would do next season.
If you don’t renew your season ticket don’t moan when someone takes it and then constantly renews. PL football with a stadium our size you miss a season ticket one year and everyone renews you won’t be able to get one.

It's a possibility I suppose. But they'd be asking a higher price for an inferior product, because the atmosphere of being at a game would be considerably less in a restricted capacity situation than usual. I wrote about "the new normal" right at the start of lockdown, that people soon get used to changes and it becomes "the norm" for them, well I think if they open up football stadia and you go there and the atmosphere is rubbish because it's only a third full, it will put a lot of people off going at all. They'll prefer to watch it on telly. So I think this next period is going to be very interesting. Putting the prices up and restricting attendance will be a death knell for the sport as a live spectacle.

They’ve already said next seasons season tickets will be at this seasons prices

I think it’s most likely that they won’t put prices up, but were the club thinking we’d be back at full capacity when they made that announcement?

If you’re one of the lucky 11,000 allowed in, could you really complain if the prices increased? In my opinion, you can’t. (Depending on the increase obviously)

But will they allow singing given that you can't in a Church. Plus, plus will you have to wear a mask?

I fully understand that but at the same time watching a Prem League game with a League Cup crowd isn’t going to be great.

It’s a bit like what’s happening with pubs at the moment. They are open but it’s just not the same and I think this is a bad thing. Because if people go and don’t get the same buzz and vibe they had before it changes their experience of it and ultimately will change their desire to go at all.

I’d prefer fully shut or fully open, rather than this half way house arrangement.

At some point the risk of catching coronavirus, to non high risk groups, will fall below that of seasonal flu or measles. It may even be at that point now? So should we stop in forever just in case? Or should we make the risks clear to everyone and allow them to make their own decisions?
Your visiting the wrong pubs 👍🏻

Yes, before the restrictions were announced.

Only sensible thing to do is say that the coming season is a one off. Regardless of how they sell season tickets for 20/21 (assuming they do), then 19/20 holders can renew their seat in 21/22 regardless of whether they go next season.

The toilet issue is solved, at half time, all 11000 will be taken by bus to have a socially distanced shit and piss somewhere in a circle in S6, you will also be able to have a halftime playabout in the park, before jumping back onto the buses to go back to the lane

I'll be renewing mine & the young ens as going to the match with any amount of crowd has got to be better than watching it on sky/bt & im sure the players would apperiaciate 10k rather than zero. Also just been reading that it looks like 25% attendance will be allowed but packed stadiums is still at least a year away according to a top government advisor.

Now I dont know about anybody else and I've said it before im getting sick of being told what to do (or listening to bad advice) from morons at Westminster who don't know there arse from there elbow when it comes to this virus. I'm perfectly fine to go and get drunk & not socially distance or wear a mask in an enclosed place, people can now go to gyms and sweat cough but I cant go & watch my team in an outdoor arena? It should be the choice of the person if they want to sit with 30 or 30'000.

FFS! Just open the stadium as normal! If you’re worried about catching the virus, then don’t go!
Doesn't work like that though unfortunately.
You might end up with 20,000 fit Blades catching the virus, who don't even notice. They pass it on to 20,000 others, including vulnerable. Then it all goes on again.

What percentage were tested though? Genuine question. Could be 20% of us have got it / had it?? Would be interesting to know.

Can’t see the club going back on their word personally

Of course they can, and it’s not mutually exclusive anyway; they can do what I said and also sell 20/21 season tickets at this season’s price. It’ll just be known that you’ll not actually be going to some (most?) games so will be getting partial refunds, you probably won’t be in your actual seat, and if you didn’t have an ST in 19/20, you’re not guaranteed one in 21/22.

Have you been to one that doesn't take your contact details? Serious question. Because if they do exist I'd like to know about them. I don't want to be quarantined before I go on my hols in September, so I'm not planning to go any pubs in the 2 weeks leading up to that.

I agree with all the last bit. The only part I disagree is that I dont think the club will go back on their word and increase prices. I never said they couldn’t just that they won’t.

Ah, fair enough. We’re pretty much in agreement then. I can’t see them raising the prices either.

Last year's season tickets and both derbies in the Championship, off the top of my head.
You said "The same system has also been used for home games when ticket availability is as low as 25,000"

Tickets for the Home game Vs Wensdeh were allocated by the loyalty points system ?

Really !!

As far as I am aware the loyalty points system has never been used to allocate tickets for home games

So what about distancing? I sit next to my son and brother. How can you all go together? Surely you would be encroaching on to someone elses patch who probably also come with family and friend and would you be prepared to go on your own whilst a family member can't?

They might not as well, can’t live our lives on what ifs.

It has for non season ticket holders for league games last season and for big cup games prevoiusly

Cant argue with that, 👍

but Season Ticket holders have never had Tickets for Home games allocated by Loyalty points ....

Which is what the previous poster claimed ...... :)

Give them false details 👍🏻 all seriousness tho I've been in 2 and haven't given any details.

I’ll cross dress and give them my wife Petunia’s details. Then she won’t be able to come and me and the boys will be in the disco’s of Magaluf unfettered!

On second thoughts.. maybe not! 🤔

I'm a big advocate of personal choice. I think you make people aware of the risks and let them decide. If it looks like the system is going to be overwhelmed by that then you have to intervene of course, and that's what happened with the lockdown - no issue with that. But the advice coming out of Westminster has been so inconsistent that people are confused and scared. I'd willingly go to the lane and sit with 30,000 others. I said that weeks ago tbh. I think there's a very small risk of catching it in that situation, unless I decide to deep French kiss someone who's got it when we score a goal. And if I do catch it, I think there's a very small risk it will affect me seriously.

I do understand though that I could catch it, not be aware, and give it to someone else who is vulnerable. To me, that's also a responsibility on the part of those who are vulnerable to take precautions about who they mix with and how.

The big thing on my mind is when do we get to a point where we say, "yes, there's still a risk of catching it and those in high risk groups should be especially careful, but for the rest of us, get on with your lives"?
