I've been thinking of the role Freeman has played this season, a couple of impressive cameos but nothing to particularly make you sit up and take notice bar the odd good performance in the cup games.

It mirrors the season Lundstram had with us in the championship before becoming a regular starter. Could be that Wilder & Knill are looking to next season with a tweak in formation which will see freeman start more games to give us some much needed creativity up front and make some chances. He's the only player in our squad at the moment who looks to be able to do what Duffy did for us in the Championship.

I think all the talk of him moving on may be premature. It seems strange to me that we let Callum Robinson go out on Loan for example but not Freeman. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just wishful thinking as I like him as a player.

Wilder sees him every day and obviously doesn't fancy him...

Personally think last Summer's recruitment was entirely focused on us being back in the Championship and having the firepower to bounce back up to the PL. Therefore the likes of Robinson, Freeman, Osborn weren't bought with a top 10 PL finish and European push in mind.

This Summer's will be - so watch out for fireworks!!

Was thinking something similar on this yesterday. For all the apparent unwillingness to use him, had he not picked up the injury when he did from what Wilder said in response to Osborn’s selection it sounded like Freeman had been in his mind to start. I don’t think Wilder doesn’t rate him, but views his contribution to be a specific one within our current system. If we do tweak it, with the right and left sided options in midfield able to be a bit more weighted to being attack-minded, then I do think he’d be used a bit more.

I hope you're right but not optimistic with the supposed budget we're rumoured to be working with.

He was extremely unlucky to be injured at the same time as Fleck. Would have liked to have seen him get a run of 3 or 4 games so we can all make a proper assessment.

Freeman is probably better in a 4-4-2 than the way we play. At least I think he`d get more chances to play. Ousting Fleck from the team during his persistent quality performances this season was never going to happen. Hope Freeman stays. He has that invention and incisiveness which can win a tight game.

We'll be buying a GK and a Striker as a minimum..

If we're able to offload a Mousset/Freeman/Robinson - I'm guessing that would free up more cash...

Suspect Lundy, and sadly JOC too. If Mings cost £25m, JOC would fetch £35m? Mouse/Freeman/Robertson/Lundy £15m? Prince lobs in £25m, Wilder gets £75m? Would help with creativity & pace!

Prince ain't got £ to throw in

Not so sure about that but I think they were brought in for depth more than anything.

I really would like to see us utilise Freeman more.

Even though we've got a low budget normally and a really low budget now?

We spent £45m last summer so would assume we'll be working with a similar figure!

I'd imagine Tufty's posturing in the media is just that and trying to keep expectations and prices low!

I'd be amazed if we didn't spend at least £20m on a keeper and £20-30m on another striker!

Still some decent free agents knocking around too though.

JOC won’t be leaving for 35 million but I can see them cashing in Basham for 10m because of his age irrespective of him defying being a pensioner

I would have really liked to have seen him given a go in McGoldrick's role, dropping deep, linking play together & probing for openings.

Another striker!!! God, please let this one be half decent please!!

If we merged all 3 together, we'd have a belter!

Robinson's athleticism, Mousset's speed, McBurnie's work rate - throw in Sharp's dedication and whammo!

I guess we'll ignore the 125m prize money then 🙈

Minus the 75 odd million we spend this year, minus the deductions to the pot due to clawbacks from overseas TV deals, minus the overhead of the increased wage bill from this year, minus the revenue lost for the home games psot lockdown circa 500k a game.

Minus the extra expenses the mortgage to buy the ground , hotel, training ground have added.

Yeah were swimming in cash ......

Luke's been really unlucky not getting a proper run- he's definitely class. I'd love him to stay he's an asset worth peservering with.

Different topic- but I've seen folk moan about Norwood- WTF he along with the defence are the main reasons we are where we are, yes the odd ball goes astray, but for me he's fantastic- spreads the play/ gets stuck in/ whips corners in superbly (pity we never score from a corner)/ offers all the time, he's a gem and at moment irreplaceable.

Sell the ground back to ourselves.. easy.. (that's a joke)

Unfortunately though, he'd probably play for Wendy!!
For all the use Clarke, Moose and Zivvo have been since covid struck, idve taken Robinson back in a heartbeat!
Atleast he made an effort, even if he wasn't quite good enough.

Jokes aside though, that 120 million has basically been burnt through, given Bettis and co will have to budget for next season with no gameday revenue and the added costs im expecting to be on net years wage bills as many players will have had bonues for staying up and even some . many likely have wage accelerators that trigger for having stayed up. It wouldn't surprise me if those two things along pull £20 million out of the pot.

I really dont think there is much cash around at all for this season. I think CWAK might be lucky if he has £15 million to spend with any other money having to come from player sales.

I think next 21/22 season if we keep our place is the year we can really look to impose some quality on the squad,

I've had pelters on here for saying it, but I thought he was the most talented of the 3 we bought.

I can only assume Tufty (who sees him every day) thought he was either a) not good enough for the PL or b) he needed some more game time...

Either way, if West Brom make a bid I think we accept
