So with the season done now and a dead rubber next, wonder if a few movements may be good to try out against Southampton. Nothing to lose and against a decent team.

I'd like to see Zivkovic get a start. Not seen much of him, but looked lively every time he's been on. Plus Didzy looked knackered tonight and came deep a lot leaving us light up top, and seemed to knackered to get in the box for the cross.

Maybe a switch around in mid too. Berge looked sluggish again, but he's not a wide mid. Didn't exactly set the world alight when he went CDM, but did seem a little more composed with a bit of space. So I'm wondering maybe we play Berge in there to recycle possession a bit, rather than playing right back to defense if the crosses aren't on.

Thinking maybe put Norwood as RCM. Use that passing to up our crossing game as we know he's got a good pass in him and might give him opportunity for a few long shots which he used to be known for but not something he can do dropping back to shield the defence when bash and JOC have gone on their journeys.

Probably over thinking, but not like we have too many chances to test things and if the budget isn't going far next season we need to think how to get the best out of what we have.

That said, maybe a bit deflated tonight, but can't fault the lads. A lot more desire on show, just looked like the season caught up with us.

Oh, and richarlison-what an embarrassment. Good goal but fuck me what a bellend. The dropping like a sack of spuds at a feather tickle was bad enough, but spent a good minute or two in the first half whining to the ref about a pretty run of the mill foul clearly trying to get our man carded (can't remember who it was). Always has a face like a slapped arse too.

nothing to play for ? well theres the potential 4 million quid different in Merit payments for finishing above Arsenal & Burnley for a start, then theres the want to avoid going into a shortend off season on the back of a 3 game skid, momentum and all that. Theres two pretty good reasons right there not to go experimenting I reckon

OK, comparatively. Not saying throw the game!

Maybe I am looking too much into tonight and knowing we're short on creativity. A few tweaks here and there and like you say, short pre season so not like we'll have a good bunch of friendlies to try anything before getting back on it.

Not saying wholesale changes either-same system, just a few player changes. Especially the mid. We know wilder plans on moving Berge to CDM at some point. Can't imagine Norwood is being shipped anytime soon so something like that will need looking into at some point anyway.

I would like to see RZ start just to see if he offers anything when given the chance.
Other than that there is not much we can do other than give Leon a go !

id make 2 changes for the last game. Fleck back in for Osborne & Zivko in for McBurnie I dont think its the game for wholesale changes and as amazing as this year has been finishing it with 3 straight defeats would leave a sour taste in the mouth

Not much we can change with the current squad of players. Maybe see if 2 behind 1 striker is more creative than a flat 3 and 2 up top.

Agree on zivkovic. I would like to see if he is worth keeping. I would have liked to have seen him come on tonight in stead of Billy.

I think we should just start simple and try and score before worrying about owtelse.

Hendo
Bash Egan JOC
Baldock Stevens
Berge
Norwood Fleck
RZ McBurnie

Defence stays same.

I'd play Berge Infront of the back 3 with license to move forwards dependent which wing we're attacking down but also free to split defences to see RZ can latch on to any through balls with his pace.

Would love to see Berge given a chance at his proper position with Norwood shifting wider to see what he can do with Bash and Baldock. Fleck pushes further forward and ask to be more creative and pick off shots from outside the box (when was our last shit from outside the box?? When was our last shot on target??)

I'd like to see one or two youth players given a chance. But I don't know who, if anyone's ready.....

Norwood doesn't have the mobility to play wide - the result would be an even flatter mid 3 with even less support to the front 2

Not sure this would be a massive issue to us. The pacy wide mid would be essential to a team playing one up front to get support to the top, but for the most part our mids tend to be on the corner of the box-we end up with that square down in the corner with the wing back, the overlap CB, the striker and then the mid as the ball slightly back. So George would still do his thing, with bash running beyond. Norwood would hover a little back for the pass back inside and should be able to whip one in from there or God forbid take a shot from outside the box!

Besides, can't say he has any less mobility than playing Berge there at the minute. I like the kid and hope he comes good, but last night he looked like he was running through treacle all night.
