Contrary to Swiss`s thread I`d like to state that the rumours are not true and the 'sunshine band`have not dispersed and is still functioning as normal.

Fiery, Micalijo and Ollessendro have all pledged there alligence to Speed, but will still moan and groan about everything that doesn't go how they want it to. Beighton thinks we could have bee more ambitous in appointng another manager other than Speed, Pinchy will never be happy whilst Monty is at the club, Big Mart is taking a break from the forum amist all this positivity and Lenners will never be happy.

I think it is probably time to say "I told you so" (as much as I hate to do it) to all the 'clappers'. 3 games into the season, 1 point, NO WINS and one goal scored. What a great start. On top of that we`ve conceded 5 goals. I said before the start of the season that our defence wasn't good enough and already it's showing. I also said that we'd finish 13th. I go slammed and my repsne was let`s see how the first month goes. Well 3 games in and it looks pretty bleak. Of course on a positive note we have a new manager, but we are let facing a win against Preston or looking like beng in a relegation scrap.

So there is no need to worry, I for one am far from being positive yet. I will never ever be assocoiated in the same clan as Dunc and 'the clappers' and will always find something to loan about. If I was a Chelsea fan it would be that we are too posh, Man U the Glaziers, Real Madrid that it is too hot, Barcelona that Franco won the war, Inter Milan that the Southern Italians are stealing all our money. No matter how god it gets I (as a chief member of the 'sunshine band') will alwyas find something to complain about. I am a miserable fooker with nowt else to do. Does anyone remember how bad the pies where in the Prem season? In the promotion season one of the staff in the club shop was rude as fuck to me. Also in 02/03 there was this muppet in the ticket office that ruined my whole season.

Was was Speed thinking plating Monty and Ertl in the team today???? Why did he wait 14 mins after the goal to make sub? Why is Bogdanovic playng for Malta when he is Easter Eurpoean and never set foot in the Mediteranean Island until after he was 20???? Where was McCabe today???? Fook, fook, fucking fook.

McCabe was in the stand......were you watching???

;)

Where was McCabe today

He was at the Game, he was asked after what were his thoughts, he replied

"The pointing is a bit shabby, and he could easily build Gibson a Nice New Stadium, and is anyone up for buying shares in the New Venture"

Got to agree with the midfield part olle, all 3 players are the same in every way however Ertl stood out from the rest for me, Monty needs dropping and i'd be tempted to do the same with britton play 4-4-2 and play players in there natural positions.

Stop playing Wardy on the right.

I think the Sunshine Club needs a new spokesperson. Or is that the look you're going for?

Well ..................... Mr McCabe has appointed an inexperieced manager live with it .......he might be a gud un....... given time.
Mid table finish will have to do this season..........unless......

No I'd try him as part of a two man strike force.
Evans or Body along side him and hope that his pace caused more problems in the box than it does on the wing.

His pace might cause problems, but he's unable to finish one-on-ones.

Speed also tried pushing him up front towards the end today.

We do need pace up front, but Wardys better suited to the wing, drifts out of the game far less and offers more.

Any pacy strikers out there we should be interested in?
Do we have the money after committing so much on the planks we already have?

I'm sure there's plenty out there we could be looking at, certainly when all the squads are named.

My main point is, Wardy's best position and the one he prefers is on the right.

Some thoughts on today:

Impossible to think that a team playing under a new manager has ever given such a dour performance. Strachan's start at Celtic was a complete disaster of course but if Blackwell was quite rightly sacked for a total disintegration of unity, cohesion and organisation there was no evidence that Speed's appointment has had any postive influence at all. I'm not talking about working stuff out on the training ground because obviously he hasn't had time but the response to the goal today was a disgrace in terms of a desire to change the game, avoid defeat. As Lenners would say, the soul of SUFC has been ripped away by McCabe and Blackwell.

Boggy is achieveing the impossible and making Evans look dangerous.

Monty is a total and utter joke who sees far too much of the ball and gives stupid fouls away. I am sick of seeing him play for SUFC. Stupid of me to pick solely on him I know but enough is enough. Big earners at any club should be the flair players, not the donkeys.

Ward is our only hope

Britton has ruined his career by joining us

I enjoyed Ertl in midfield, honestly.

We are staring a relegation battle in the face

At 10:48 on the 19th August you said "No more negativity from me". What happened?

Can I quote?

"Thoughts on today"

"Britton has ruined his career by joining us"

One day a career ruined?

Really?? Do you really think so?

I meant negativity about the manager!! I did honest, I am still totally buzzin Blackwell has gone - for now that is all that matters. What I had hoped for was a bit of passion and some attacks in last ten minutes and in that sense it was horrific. Can't ignore what was in front of us on TV today, doesn't mean I am against Speed in anyway - just disappointed that it was exactly like a normal Blackwell game, or dare I say it a Robson game.

No, what is stupid is your apparent expectation that Speed could undo everything that had gone wrong under Blackwell in just 5 days. He has a big job to do, give him a chance.

I totally agree. I didn't mean to give the impression that I am having a pop at Speed but I was very disappointed with the performance.

Yes Silverfox - I really think so. Is that OK?

Fine by me you think after one game I repaet ONE GAME!

His career is ruined!

HAHAHA!

I respect your opinion although I think we may want to give the lad a chance to show it is not ruined as you say! :)

I think the entire set-up [team and management] are under too much pressure not to hoof it. Thats why we didn't pepper their box in the last ten minutes. A fear of the fans retribution.

I'd agree with that. I also think that that might have been on Morgan's mind when tried to bring it down and missed it . He should have just launched it into the stand.

We don't have the players for a normal 4-4-2. I didn't have a problem with the 4-2-3-1 formation but the forward needs better support we were far too deep.

Do you really think so? I dont see any reason why we cant revert back to it. We have holding players in Ertl and Monty - then Britton and Quinn who are a bit more free-spirited. We need an out and out left winger but we have widemen in Ward and Yeates. Personally I think a 4-4-2 is the only way forward at the moment. I'm of the belief that all these fancy modern formations dont suit us at all. Then again I'm very loyal to the 4-4-2....I just think you can be more flexible with it in terms of changes and personnel.

We don't have the players for a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 because IF you are going to successfully play with 1 man upfront:
a) firstly you need an experienced striker who can play this way and either hold the ball up against the attentions of 2 central defenders until support is there or
b) has blistering pace and great control of the ball to recieve it and then beat the 2 central defenders discussed earlier.

You also need a midfield with pace who can quickly break and support the lone striker and / or make diversionary runs to draw defenders away from him to give him space.

Unfortunately; we have none of the above! Not being derogatory about Evans or our midfield, but they simply don't have those skills.

What we need is a left back, a striker with some genuine pace to trouble defences, a proper winger with pace to beat full-backs and get behind defences, and a midfield general. (still unsure about Britton in this role)
Now I've made my list, where is Father Christmas when you need him. :-)

You just need to support the loan striker not play it as we did with him being the only player in their half.

If you have two holding midfielders you the 3 midfielders need to push right on supporting and going past the forward. We didn't have this at all on Sunday.

Ertl and Monty can do the holding role, but you have to trust them to do it you can't pull your other midfielders back just incase.

Ertl and Monty and Yeates, Britton and Ward as the three behind Ched has a chance of working. Although I would like to see strengthening in this area if that formation is the plan. 4-4-2 doesn't really work for us because it totally rules out Quinny because he isn't good enough creatively or defensively for the central midfield and isn't good enough/quick enough out on the left. Quinny might prosper in a 4-3-3 on the left side of a midfield 3 but that's another discussion.
For 4-4-2 then you are left with Monty and Britton only one of which has anything resembling a passing brain. Wardy is ok wide right but is effectively nullified when he comes up against a decent standard full back. He is more effective when he doesn't have to get "chalk on his boots" and can play inside.
Now if Williamson was fit to play Willo and Britton in the middle I might be convinced that Wardy not being his most effectively is ok but not with Monty in the middle.

For me either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is the way to go.

100% Agree Darth.
It looks as though we are the followers of fashion.
If we had Drogba, Lampard, Fletcher and Scholes I think we could play 4-2-3-1 but we are light years from such pipe dreams.
Solid 4-4-2 so our limited players can understand their role and position.
We are so lacking width at teh moment it's frightening.
How many crosses are we getting into the danger area?
Our forward players are much more suited to getting on the end of crosses than they are of holding up a ball and getting the supporting midfielders into play.

>If we had Drogba, Lampard, Fletcher and Scholes
blackwell would have left them on the bench and picked monty, quinn and hendo instead

just out of interest.. what formation did we play under blackwell.. was it 9 1 or 8 1 1 if cotterill was playing?.. i can never work it out

Well, you bunch of fooking clappers. A performance like that and people are defending Speed and the players.

(As Lenners pointed out in another thread) you can move the deck chairs around but you are still stuck in the same shit. We might have moved the deck chairs around, but we are still stuck on Blackpool beach. Speed might be the new boss, but we are still up to our neck in shite.

My prediction of 13th is looking optimistically high at the moment. Oh dear, oh dear.
