Carling Cup time...

This is the match thread for:

* Predictions
* Build-up
* Team News
* In-match chat
* Post-game reaction

I'd be more tempted to give the lads who played together a run out to give them some more game time, and hopefully a decent win and decent performance will see them going in to the QPR with some wind in their sails.

Who is going up to Hartlepool? I'm going and driving up and raised a car full but i suspect there wont be that many

Aye... we'll be heading up there.

Second new ground in a week.

I will be going :D One of 2/3 new grounds to do this season unless we pull a peach of a tie at some god awful ground on a wet Wendy night.

Hopefully it will be a 2-0 or 3-0 win with a few different faces getting a run out, but the majority being 1st team players gearing up for the big 1st home match of the season. Will be interesting to see how many make the journey too, got 900 odd tickets i heard but not sure how many have been snapped up.

Can't wait for this one, 2 games in 3 days is making up for the longest 2 months of the year

Can't believe there are internationals on this week as well as Carling Cup we have 3 players on international duty so what happened to the old 3 player rule?

How about a guess at a starting team of: Aksalu, Roe, Morgs, Ertl, Kozluk, Yeates, Monty, James, Chappell, Bogdanovic, Slew.

Aksalu & Bogdanovic on Intl duty. so I would go for

Simmo, Kozluk, Morgan, Turtle, Taylor, Yeates, F.M Monty, Quinn, Chappell, Ward, Cresswell
Bench: James, Roe, Andrew, Britton, Jordan, Adams & Blackwells uncle

Going and it's the only new ground I get to this season, unless we get some more lower league cup ties.

It doesnt look like we have many available for tonight (14 tops) so I would go with the following:-

GK: Simonsen
CB: Morgan
CB: Ertl
RB: Kozluk
LB: Taylor
CM: Montgomery
CM: Quinn
CM: Chappell
RW: Ward
LW: Yeates
CF: Cresswell

Subs:- Bartley; Britton; James

We will have to supplement that bench with whatever kids we have I suppose. With Boggy and Ched away on international duty and an injury respectively, we will have to go 4-5-1 I would imagine. This game is probably too soon for Bartley and he's carrying a slight niggle so I wouldn't risk him - save him for saturday. I don't think we'll see Nosworthy and Jordan until Middlesbrough either but better to ease them back in (its a long season).

By the way, what young goalkeepers do we have???? Aksalu is away with Estonia so we'll have to name someone surely???? Blackwell will probably field something similar to the above and I reckon that will be enough to beat Hartlepool (no disrespect to them).

Isn't Stephen Jordan fit?

He picked up a knock in America when he was playing for Portsmouth. Nothing serious but he and United have both made it clear he will be rested for the next week. He's running it off in training at the moment by all accounts.

No point chucking him in tonight when he's not ready.

Cheers Lou!

I'll park somewhere out of the way then :D

Harsh!

Has he got his booster cushion ready?

:D

I can't reach the pedals if I use my booster cushion so I've put two thick planks of wood on the bottom of my shoes ready for it ;)

Quite looking forward to a new ground tonight, not that fussed about the result either way if I'm honest, I just don't want extra time and penalties!

Confirmed team - debuts for James and Chapell. And a surprise appearance on the bench from someone I thought had retired...

Simmo
Kozzie, Morgs, Ertl, Taylor
Chapell, Monty, Britton, James, Yeates
Cresswell

Subs: Ward, Bartley, Quinn, Roe, Crichton, Speed

Thanks for that, had given up trying. Not good enough really is it? A bit like the Blades tonight.
