I met Motty in the bar in TV Centre when I worked at the BBC. He was very happy to tell football stories and answer questions as long as you kept his glass topped up. It was a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours as he had some great tales to tell.

I genuinely don’t remember the stories - a fair bit of beer was drunk - but I do remember he liked Bramall Lane. There were three of us buying him drinks and it was mostly World Cup stuff he was telling us.
