There’s no way in hell, they had the chance at half time to say it’s a goal and sorry it fucked up.

Goal line technology has been unquestionably right, but you know, a team always has to test it’s limits ! Step forth Dem Blades 😂😂

Let’s be honest, it isn’t going to ruin our season and I hope the lads take this as a big fuck you and smash the fucking lot up now. We kind of needed that from what I’ve seen tonight.

When you have our run in though, 2 more points and a win in the first game are fucking handy.

They would never do that
People will say we were outplayed anyway and didn't deserve to win

They can’t award us the points, for had we scored Villa May have played differently in second half. The goal should have been awarded at the time or half time.
But as Hawkeye found to be fallible then in future all decisions have to be referred to VAR and Hawkeye loses its contract.

You can't award points for something that happened in the middle of the match. It's completely against both the spirit and the logic of the game, however aggrieved we all feel.

A goal at that stage would have altered the whole course of the game thereafter (admittedly in our favour) so you can't use it to award points.

It's a lot lot less against the spirit of the game than being denied a goal which Hawkeye themselves have confirmed to be over the line.

I know, it's fucking atrocious, but matches absolutely cannot have the result adjusted after the fact for something that happened in the middle of the game.

For one thing, it denies Villa over a full half of going for an equaliser, as their tactics would surely have changed when a goal down. Villa were happy to play out a draw, which the did successfully, you can't suddenly override that and say 'oh sorry lads, the actually lost but you didn't know you were ever behind'.

That way madness lies.

As I said, weigh that up against the current situation. The current situation is far more against the spirit of the game.

No way we’ll get the points, but Hawkeye or the Premier League should compensate us for the money we could’ve earned from a higher league finish and European football income.

I disagree. Not getting a goal you should have (or a penalty, or an opponent red carded) is very frustrating, but it happens at all levels, all the time.

Telling a team that they lost because of a goal they didn't even know about in the middle of the game, and would have coloured the entire game from that point on, is absolutely unprecedented. We have absolutely no case. Sadly all we are owed is an apology, which we have and which is worth fuck all to us.

Can't happen unfortunately, VAR should've dealt with it there and then, wasn't exactly subjective.

Again we're not talking about whether something was a foul, or a penalty etc we are talking about the ball being confirmed as over the line by the goal tech people yet not being awarded in the score line. That is absolutely unprecedented and IMO way more against the spirit of the game than the idea that Villa may or may not have suddenly got a lot better and started scoring. If they had the ability to score then they would have done so.

Exactly, so we’re supposed to believe that Villa were happy with a point and didn’t push for a goal in the second half?

They still won’t do anything about it!

Goal line technology aside, the same thing happened to Spurs and Pedro Mendes at Old Trafford. Absolutely blatant to everyone in the ground, yet it wasn't given.

Furthermore, much as I don't like it, not being given a blatant goal is as nothing compared to denying Villa 48+ minutes to equalise. Clearly there's a fundamental disagreement in philosophy here. It's not just about Villa getting better going forward - they quite rightly thought they were defending a point. One cannot turn around and say 'sorry chaps, you were losing the whole time'. That is far more damaging to the integrity of the game that a goal not standing that should have.

Agree to disagree then I suppose

Only fair outcome is to replay the match at the end of the season
