I don’t feel nerves like for a derby or play off final, but in terms of anticipation it’s similar to those two. Way more anticipation than the start of a season.

Nerves + anticipation = dread
No nerves + anticipation = excitement

I think it’s probably closest to an FA Cup semi final. Give it a few weeks and we’ll have a direct comparison 😉

I get nervous before every game but weirdly the nerves haven't kicked in (yet?). Just excitement

Can't wait, but also feel strangely calm.

Just looking forward to seeing us play and how we’re looking after 3 months away. Play as we usually do and we should get a result. Often these games are the hardest though playing against teams fighting for survival.

I fear the Ref will be biased against us not , in Goal decisions , but all the fifty/fifty ones , which add up , and lead to goals , Hosehold names will benefit, with out those nasty Blade fans able to make a fuss .

Not nervous at all. Why should we be? We're in a superb position, safe, but with a chance of something more.

I'm not especially confident either, not because I think Villa are great nor because I don't think we'll perform, but simply because in this situation it's so unpredictable so anything could happen, but either way, just enjoy it and be thankful we're playing again.

For me it feels like regular pre-match buzz of the first game of a new season

I'm going for a semi. Infact I have had one for days :D

Shitting it now I know half the squad are out injured!!!

I'm feel strangely ambivalent about it. I think the fact I won't be there is tempering my enthusiasm a little bit, and it is strange given how much is riding on these last few games.

We’ve got more household names nowadays than Villa have.

Referees could be a big part. We will see if there is a difference with their decisions now they aren’t under pressure from 30/40 thousand fans baying for a decision to go their way. Could be noticeable?.

For pre match nerves....
Start of a new season?
Alongside play off finals?
Local derbies?
FA Cup semi finals....?
I have to say I’m more nervous than any game since I’ve been watching (1975).

At the moment it doesn't even register on the anal sphincter scale.

Tomorrow at 6pm it may be different.

I don't feel that Villa deserve to have my anal sphincter twitching like a rabbit's nose. They are nothing special. We should beat them.

There are a lot of unknowns of course - not least the fact that neither team will have supporters there roaring them on.

But I honestly don't think this is a nervous situation. It is not the end of the world if we lose this game. We can still make Europe. Of course, it's a hell of a boost if we win, but I'll be watching the game in a relaxed frame of mind. Our team are good. I mean... they are reyt good! And if Lady Luck doesn't charm us tomorrow then she will return another day very soon.

This doesn't compare, by a factor of several trillion to one, to a derby game!

Until the joc rumour I found it hard to care. Then It kicked in a bit.

But it all feels a bit weird. Nothing like pre Bournemouth game where it was all up for grabs.

I'm sure come kick off I will be into it but I wonder how long the novelty of no fans lasts. Watching the German stuff it really does hurt just seeing thousands of empty seats

Yes it will be interesting to see if the ref is able to see the cheating diving bastard Grealish doing his swan dives without 40,000 fans screaming for a foul where none exists

It's similar to the start of the season for me, but really it's much more important than that. It's one of, if not the easiest (on paper) match we have left, so it's really important we get a win tonight to set up to for the remaining matches.

I am not nervous at all - we are not going down - we have a chance of doing something special but if we dont its still been a great season.

I am quite ambivalent about it all. Saw Ball_Sup (Phil) get cricitism for saying how its not for him but I see his point to a degree on certain aspects.

I am looking forward to the game (tempered by all this injury rumours and possible bad news on our 2 best players) but I am not giddy as maybe I should be or others are. Course it will be great to see the Blades in any form but I certainly did not struggle to sleep for excitement like some say they did? Maybe I am a boring bastard.

Glad football is back and I was wrong as I thought we would be looking at August or Sept before any kind of games; and of course they have to bring it back under current conditions (cant wait till crowds are back in) but I have a feeling the novelty will quickly wear off - might be wrong and hope I am.

I think in a few weeks people will be saying its all a bit crap. I actually love football but found myself watching less and less over the years on TV (nothing beats live games and being there - that will hit home a few weeks into this) and outside of United I might catch a few a week (often Sunday) but then I miss a lot more than I used to. Maybe its just me being busy/family stuff but I think loads will watch the first few days/weekend and then interest across the board will drop off massively. Of course you will be tuned into your own club etc but I am not sure I will be watching every night/3 or 4 a day at weekends for the next 5 or 6 weeks. Maybe that is just me. At least I am being honest I suppose!

Strange one this. We have nothing to worry about, we are safe from the threat of relegation [bar a total collapse & the bottom half of the table winning every game possible], Europe would be a bonus, but if it does not happen so what.

Yet, I still have the pre match butterflies, saying that if we were 20 points clear at the top with 1 game to go I would probably still have butterflies! Its aBlades thing!
