Ridiculous/Bizarre Covid procedure

What a bunch of whiners.

It's all about a balance of risk and the EPL (or whoever sets the bar) has set strict rules for all the players benefit. One thing for sure is that getting this out side is much harder than getting it inside hence all the bigger changing rooms, smaller groups on the buses.

I'm just glad that we've got football back on - and if this is what it takes to get it back on then fine with me - for now. That doesn't mean we shouldn't question whether the steps being taken are necessary though. But nothing will change in the short term I don't suppose. I think we'll end the season in this fashion and then possibly, start the new season in September and go back to normal size changing rooms and one bus.

What is the point in any of that?
First of all everybody is tested and nobody has coronavirus so why is there a need for three coaches?
Similarly if nobody has it then why do special procedures need to be in place at the ground?
And if that did make any sense to start with, what’s the difference between the media room and the dressing room?

Didnt anyone read what it said ? Team will be on first bus. So no change from a normal away match. All the back room staff etc will be on bus two and three. Cant get everyone on one coach :)

But they will be more spread out than for a normal away match. That’s why they can’t get everyone on one coach.

Some of the back room staff won’t be allowed in the “red zone” within the ground which is reserved for players and key staff.

Therefore it makes sense for them to travel separately. They haven’t just worked this stuff out in the back of a fag packet 😉

I like your "wet paint" analogy. That's very true - the human mind is a curious one. But also there's this thing called "instinct" and it doesn't have an off switch. When I pick up a loaf of bread I squeeze it to see if it feels fresh. When I buy eggs I pick up the box and open it to see if any of them are already on the way to becoming an omelette, and if so, I put it back. When I go to buy clothes I touch them to see what the fabric feels like. When I buy tins of beer (something I rarely used to do before lockdown) I pick up the tin to try and read the tiny writing to see what strength it is. I know I shouldn't be doing any of these things, but I can't help it! And neither can the majority of folks.

I was in Tesco Archer road a few weeks ago, I got to the checkout and realised I'd done my usual trick, forgot to bring a bag in with me. I'd got a load of them in my car boot but no way was I going to go back out to the car and queue to come back in again! So I saw these bags hanging on the end of the checkout and thought, "sod it, I'll have to buy one". I picked up this bag, then realised it wasn't a normal carrier bag, it was one of those with little partitions in it for carrying bottles, so I put it back. I heard this voice behind me say, "I wish folks wouldn't pick things up if they don't intend buying 'em".

I restrained myself from reacting, although it did cross my mind. I could have turned round and explained that it wasn't clear what type of bags these were, I could have said, I thought I wanted one but now I don't. I could have explained that even if that bag had been touched by someone with Covid-19 the chances of anyone catching it from touching it are practically zero. Because if the government and their advisors can't explain that to the general public then I think I'd probably struggle as well. So, I just sucked it up and bought a proper carrier bag when I got to the other end of the checkout, knowing that that bag had been touched by dozens of folks before me.

I just love living life on the edge!

The bit where you say the chances of catching are practically zero is correct. And why do you think the government advisors don't reiterate that point? It's because they know we'd all take the piss and touch everything and everyone. Even though it's 'practically zero', I understand there is still a chance. I've been out and about. I've been to the shops, both supermarket and local. I've touched loads of stuff and got nowt. I don't out it down to luck either.

I get why they would want to reduce the risk as much as possible, but if they are really that worried, why don't the players drive to the match in their own cars? It's only Birmingham FFS!

It's because the government has to look at the big numbers. If there is a 1 in 1000 chance of dying that still means 60 000 people. If they change the rules and it makes it 1 in 500, 120k cop it.
We can just go off what happens to us or a workmate.
Whether they've done that right or wrong etc etc is another story with current forum rules ;)

It’s because they are footballers and most of them would get lost before they got to the M1. Much as i love the Blades most footballers are denser than a VERY dark wood. UTB

Its 1 in a 1,000 having it, not dying thankfully.

So presumably if we are defending a free kick then only players from Dressing Room A or B can be in the wall but not a mix of the two? Having listened to many epidemiologist's views over the course of the last few weeks it would seem if its safe enough to play football then its safe enough to get changed with team mates all this nonsense about not celebrating together and sitting apart on the bench is purely just for show in what is a contact sport?
Being in the open air is supposedly better than being indoors.
Presumably the time in close contact in a defensive wall is a matter of seconds, not minutes as it would be in a dressing room.

All indicative of the hysterical paranoia that continues to blight the country.

Especially against us. We've smashed it in the onion bag by then, back at centre spot ready for more.

No it isn't. It's about making compromises between acceptable risk and disruption to life. If were wanted to reduce the risk to "as low as humanly possible" we'd all be indoors, and football wouldn't be played at all.

Should have ended it As low as possible while still making money!

Surely they can type Villa Park into the Sat Nav? With their flash cars, they probably don't even have to type it, just talk to the car and it's job done! 🤣

I think in about 2 or 3 weeks time we'll be able to see if there's been any spike in transmission as a result of the mass gatherings that have taken place, for different reasons, in different parts of the country. My guess is that we will not see any evidence to suggest this has caused a problem. I think the death rate and infection rate will continue to fall and at that point there will be a total lifting of lockdown, or at least a further significant reduction. There needs to be.

I would like to see the 2 metre rule scrapped now. I'd be happy to see it scrapped altogether, but I think it will go to 1 metre first. That will be a lifeline for many businesses and 2 or 3 weeks on from there, if the infection rate continues to fall, it would be difficult to argue for anything other than a complete lifting of social distancing rules.
Yes, it certainly will be interesting to see whether there`s been any spike in transmission. From all the information fed to us by the Government over the course of the last 3 or 4 months, I would expect an increase owing to the demos, raves, beach gatherings etc. during the last few weeks.

Should there not be an increase, it will be interesting to hear the Gov`s explanation, and may lead some to wonder about manipulation of figures. It would be difficult to persuade anyone to adhere to any restraints from then on.

It’s like a Genesis concert.

I’ve got voice control sat nav but I don’t trust it! If I said “Villa Park” I might end up in Vilamoura! .

You think they've fiddled 'death' and 'in hospital with infection' figures?
The only figure that can be massaged is the 'R' number - but it doesn't seem that anyone is taking any notice of that.

Isn't the coach company based in Kent? Believe our team bus is usually used by Kent cricket in the summer
