Line-Up vs Villa

Hard to say without seeing them play, you can form an idea from preseason friendlies but we've not seen those, and the last game was 3 months ago.

Based on how people were playing when shutdown happened, Sharp, McBurnie, Lundstram.

You have to wonder though, would the tempo of the game suit Berge if it's not as quick while people get back into it, he'd keep possession well, hard to knock off the ball, and Moose and McGoldrick just seem really up for it.

Sharp certain starter for me based on his good form before the break and the not do insignificant fact that he bagged a hat trick there last season. Never underestimate the physiological factor in these things. The villa defence will be shitting tnemselves if billy starts

Hendo
Basham Egan JOC
Baldock Berge Norwood Fleck Stevens
McBurnie Sharp

Subs: Verrips, Jags, Retsos, Osborn, Lundstram, Freeman, McGoldrick, Zivkovic, Mousset

I'd start Lundstram, but he doesn't seem to want to sign his contract, so....

Hard decision up front. Probably let McBurnie and Sharp continue, but with subs very much in mind.

I'd be very tempted to start Mousset as a reward and incentive, after coming back in such excellent shape. And I'd fancy him to do well here. But it's probably right to start him against Arsenal, with McGoldrick.

It will be the same side that started the last game

Lunny has done nothing to merit being dropped. If he was sulking and not putting it in fair enough but hasn't. It's his shirt to lose regardless of his contract situation.

It's dragged on too long for my liking.

The other side to it is Berge, who we've just committed to long term. It could be a good game for him. I'm sure he's also got more up to speed physically during the break.

Lun can start v Arsenal.

Berge has undoubted talent but Lunny is the better in that right sided central midfield for me. Sander needs to get up to speed and is for next season. IMO.

Given Berge’s already picked up an injury, we needn’t take any risks with him – especially given the demands in the weeks to come, when we’ll almost certainly need to rotate at times.

Same lineup that beat Norwich.

It's going to be weird, will it feel like an away game? Obviously, the fans play a big part etc. But there's both subtle and substantial differences to how teams (we included) set up away from home, does that matter now?

The key tactical consideration is deciding the tackling rota when Grealish hurls himself to the floor pretending to be fouled.
We need to rotate the entire defence and midfield to mark the diving twat and avoid cards.

He will be desperate to sign if we get European football......and before the virus his form was far better than Sanders, add into the mix he scored a brace yesterday v Hull and he's got to start.

I know what you are saying but Lunny has been excellent this season and the difference between 1 point and 3 on more than one occasion...

He really has .I watched the highlights of this season one game at a time and i honestly didn't realise how big he's been for us this season

Mousset and Zivkovic - just to run at the world's greatest ever defender that is Tyrone fucking Mings!

You've swung me in favour of at least Moose, we have to run at him, he goes non-corporeal if you do.

I thought Moose has looked a bit out of sorts the last few times he has played.
so if we mix it up, I’d prefer Didsy. I know he was also a little off the pace, but was coming back from injury.
This is a nice problem to have - plenty of options up front and in the middle.

Our backline I’m a bit more worried about when we need to rest players.

Is Mings available for Villa given his attendance at the BLM protest in Birmingham and the subsequent advice that all those involved should self quarantine for 14 days? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unlike 99% of attendees though, he'll have been tested after so the isolation rules don't particularly apply.

There was a positive test yesterday, who and what club is involved hasn't been made public though. We'll find out on Wednesday.

Pretty stupid of him whatever, it must be borderline ‘breach of contract’, by voluntarily taking part in something that potentially, could result in him being unable to carry out his professional duties, also put his teamates health at risk and in a perfect storm scenario, cause Villas relegation 🥳

I haven't seen the pictures of him at the protest but if he stayed the recommended 2m away from other protesters why would that be borderline breach of contract?
