United live games on the BBC?

How many times have games featuring United been shown live on the BBC? I can only think of three games, the Manchester United Cup game in 1993, an FA Cup match against Aston Villa (where Dwight Yorke chipped the penalty) and Fulham away in the cup in 2914, when Shaun Miller got his last minute winner?

Fulham was on ITV 4

but the FA cup semi against Arsenal was on the BBC as was the FA cup game in 2005 when we beat Villa at the Lane

I think we’ve had a few cup games. The semi final against Arsenal in 2003 was on the BBC and so was the one when we played them in 2005.

If it is the one I am thinkng of I flew (well the airplane did) all the way from Ankara, in Turkey, for the week end. On the Friday night I was greeted by about a foot of snow. Had it not been on TV I reckon it would have been postponed. The Yorke penalty was the first 'dinked 'penalty I had seen. Villa centre forward (Missalotavitch)-Villa's description, not mine), dived for the penalty. I went back to Turkey on the Sunday afternoon Total cost, for weekend, about 700 quid- Airfare, petrol, ticket etc.

Yes that was the game, we were cheated because he dived for the penalty. I was behind the Kop for the penalty and thought that Yorke had messed up the penalty at first.

At that period I was working in Beijing, which in the winter is 8 hours ahead of the UK. Late in the evening, I was returning to my flat on a local trolley bus from spending a very pleasant evening with a friend. At that time the bus company were experimenting with on-board live TV screens. First, I vaguely noticed footy was being broadcast, then spotted the red and white, then the ground, then the two late goals in 2 mins to clinch a 3-1 win. The locals were well bemused by a lone celebrating foreigner, dancing round the bus. It was a unforgettable end to a cracking evening.

FA Cup 5th round away at Boro circa 2009 was on BBC1 I think.

It was an awful game , just about to go to pens but Paddy saved us the heartache by throwing one in on 119 mins. I was sat with my Boro mate in the prawn sandwich section.

My three visits to Boro have ended 6-0, 1-0 and 3-0 . Two visits to Elland Road 5-0 and 4-0. Only managed West Ham once , 5-0.

Lucky to get nil in all of them.
