I'm pretty sure it was a shilling (5p as is now) when I started going without my dad around 1960/61.
That was for "juveniles", going in the old Bramall Lane end turnstiles about where the Copthorne is now. But the thing I remember most was the sign above the turnstiles.: " To obviate delay please have correct change ready" - or something very similar.
It was my first real practical encounter with posh language. Of course I soon came across more "technical" vocabulary on the terraces though.
