If they get an offer I think they can recall and sell in January (i.e. we could have sold Billy in January but not brought him back to play/sit on his arse).

This is a risk we take. Taking him on loan could either prove a shrewd move by McCabe/Birch or it could back fire:

Pro's - we don't pay transfer fee and possibly don't pay all his wages. If he gets injured we send him back and it is essentially a low risk deal.

Con's - he could be recalled a) to be sold or b) if there is another clause (for example if we are not paying his full wages). If he plays really well he may attract attention elsewhere and we risk him being recalled.

As already stated, I'm happy that he is here and that's that. I think Fiery is onto something though, i'd like to knw the full extent of the deal. Surely Tricky Trev will have learnt from the debacle that was Walker's recall last year?!

But what if Sunderland demanded that clause - or any other? As owner of the player's contract it's up to them. We can negotiate, but they hold the power.

We can always take our ball home with us if the terms are completely unnaceptable- but then you've got to be sure you can find someone else as good or better easily.

Some people seem to only respect a contract that is 100% in our favour in all circumstances. Surely that's pretty rare?

We didn't put a recall clause in the loan contract for Billy Sharp's season long loan last season (because they paid his full wages). If we are paying Noz's full wages (something I'm not sure that we shall be doing) then why should we not expect a non recall clause.

As Fiery and Mic have already stated, perhaps the club could be open and honest about the deal. Is it too much to ask?

I'd rather have Kozzer than Tozzer Taylor (poor, I know!) in the back four. At least Kozzy has that comedy value, Taylor's so bad it isn't even funny to think he's earning a living out of being a professional footballer with poor pace, technique, tackling ability, strength and positional awareness.

"But he's young and learning his trade" I hear very few of you cry. He's not young, he's 24, and I'd rather he learn his trade away from our first team as he'll cost us.

Anyway, regarding Nozzer, happy with his signing. Pace, strength and experience added with a ridiculous calmness on the ball (and occasional silly risk) makes for a solid, entertaining defender! Would have liked him on a permanent deal though.
