A shilling was the price for kids on the kop or Bramall Lane end in 1948. That's 5p in today's money. I think adults paid two bob. When they put it up to half a crown my dad stopped going. He was the archetypal tight-fisted Yorkshireman. I used to go on my own from about the age of 10.

10/6 for my first season ticket - in 59. It was 6d to stand at the cricket ground side and you had to pay extra (can't remember how much) to stand under cover on the Kop.

So that's 52.5p and 2.5p

From memory, seats in the old John Street stand were £3.50 for my Dad and £1.50 for me.

midway through the second season there was a letter from “Club Captain Colin Morris” asking kids to behave themselves and telling us prices would be put up if we didn’t. Think it went to £2.20.

being 9 or 10 I naturally wondered what sort of messing about I could possibly doing that would upset my hero Colin Morris. It being the 80s I now realise exactly what might have been going on up the other end of the stand.

Early 80s it was 50p for a Junior Blade. I can’t remember what the full price for a kid was but I vaguely recollect £1.25

In the 60’s one shilling for first team, 6d for reserves (kid). Later I had a 12 month season ticket (junior) for one guinea for Sheffield United Cricket and Football Club (note cricket came first). This was all football in winter and cricket in the summer (club matches each Saturday and 3 Yorkshire matches). Good value! Translation for snowflakes - 5p, 2.5p and £1.05.

I think it was 1/6, (one shilling and sixpence) - that's seven and a half-pence in today's money, for a concession on the kop when I first went. I can't accurately remember though. It was 1970. May have been two bob or even half-a-crown?

I came to Sheffield when I was 17 in mid 71. I can’t remember what I paid to stand on John Street, but I remember that bitter was 10p a pint where I lived.

I guess an adult ticket now is about 8-10 pints, so that would mean the equivalent in 71 was about 80p.

It would be interesting to see a table of say an adult Kop ticket price over time against the equivalent number of pints of bitter at the time.

Free. Used to queue outside the shareholders turnstile at the Bramall Lane end of John Street in the mid 1950s. Each shareholder with a silver oval token could take in two of us kids for nowt. Most were happy to do so. Eventually when that concession stopped we had to pay a tanner entrance fee. A tanner was sixpenny coin, my weekly spending money at the time. Today`s equivalent is two and a half pence, although that doesn`t allow for inflation.
