30,000 come to watch us which is great but looking at Englands cities and populations , would we get bigger crowds (if successful) if we increased the capacity. I always thought Burnley's crowds were poor but considering their population it's bloody great.

I would say if continue to progress at this rate and challenge for top 6 every season we could grow to 40k comfortably.

It always make's me smile when I hear Leeds fans going on about how great their support is. When I tell them it should be because Leeds is the biggest city in England with only one football club they don't think that makes any difference to the attendance.

Relegation to league 1 and the pub league label they gave it with us in the prem have massive implications. The Mongs will probably abandon them through the shame of it, as their raison d'etre for supporting them has gone. i.e. they're belief that they are massive because they were "bigger" than us. I was chatting all things Blades at a Party recently (before the lockdown) when a **** in earshot overheard us. He shouted at the top of his voice "We've never been in the fourth division," so he had to compare them to us in some way that he still thought belittled us and therefore he could continue in life. As we continue to grow whilst the Chansiri ownership takes them to league 1 it won't be a generation it will be two or three seasons.

Sources tend to produce significantly different stats , but I've never seen such a large population attributed to Bristol.

You have to look at the area outside of Sunderland i.e. County Durham, which also has a large Newcastle United fan base and even Tyne and Wear does have Mackems.
Then add in Northumberland. My neighbor supports SAFC!

That’s an example of why basing attendance loyalty on the size of the cities is accurate.
Newcastle has a much smaller population than Sheffield.....but it has the heavily populated Gateshead on its door step
....there’s also massive areas in the north east with no football teams.
