Would you pay it? I would. Your gonna get a number 1 England keeper for a good 10 years which works out 6m a year, so yeah it's worth it. Oh yeah and he's going to be best in the world IMO.

40m +20m add ons spread over the contract length and you have a deal, plus a money back relegation clause

Nope. 60 million buys you most champions League goalkeepers. I'd hesitate paying 30 million. I am a tight arse though.

We could get him for less if Man Utd had first refusal and a buy back clause (maybe £20-30m north of whatever we'd pay)

Where’s that?
Any top goalkeeper would be better value than £60m for Henderson.

Oblak is probably the most expensive (and in my opinion the best) Goalkeeper a team could buy at around £90m and that would be better value than Henderson at £60m.

but seriously Wilder, Mitchell and co. inspire me with their transfer dealings; good buys, value for money, long game (Lundstram), short game (Evans L) and knowing when to just let go even after good money's gone.

Mr Wilder could buy a whole team for that !!!!!!….....
I admit that my post was a bit tongue in cheek (well, quite a lot really), but when these figures get quoted, £60/90 million, it shows how our position has changed in the last five or six years. Maths has never been a strongpoint of mine, but I’d be amazed if United had spent that amount in their entire existence...
Value for money indeed.

Easier to post this screenshot of transfer market.

2 things I get from that.

LMFAO at Chelsea. Kepa bought for £75m and now only worth £28m.

A reminder of how insanely good Oblak is. His performances against the bin dippers before the lockdown were some of the finest I've ever seen.

Also had a good laugh about Kepa haha.

DeGea says he wants to stay at Man Utd for the rest of his career, well his manager clearly rates him so a perfect match for say the next 2/3 seasons at least, we keep Hendo on loan paying part of his wages while ever we are in the premier league hopefully for the next 2/3 seasons, worry about it then,

Would appear now that Man Utd see us as a competitor for the top 6 and may be reluctant to loan him to us, if they do continue to loan him out they may look abroad from next season onwards

Where did the figure of £60 million originate from? I'm not suggesting that it's unrealistic, but it seems to have come out of nowhere, and suddenly Henderson's value is bracketed in the 'astonishing' range. I think DH is a good 'keeper who could progress to earn the label of great, but up until now his primary experience depends on playing for the Blades amongst other clubs. With just the good part of one season as a Prem 'keeper (I'm not diminishing the season in the Championship, but good Champ 'keepers are one thing, the proof of the pudding is when you come up against the very best that lets you know you've got a decent player!) Henderson's value has gone through the roof in less than one season, and good player that he is, a measured approach might give Hendo a chance to confirm exactly how good he can become.

Am I missing something in all this. Why would ManUre sell to a rival team just a point or two away from them? Particularly when you take into account the recent form and commitment issues with their current keeper.
As to whether we should buy, or could afford him, seems a moot point at this stage.
