I know hes another Watford Ex, but could he be the answer to our defensive issues? Hes looking for a new club after the WC. Ive always rated him, another decent player in a shite team

Has always played well against us, he could well do the job for us.
UTB

been linked with him in another thread... cant remember which though!

I'm not too against his signing, I think he would see it as a good step up but we all know if he has a good world cup then he's off to WBA, WHU, Sunderland etc.

My only worry would be his lack of pace with Morgan.

He's not good enough anymore, nor would he and Morgan make a good partnership, nor would he be willing to be just a squad player (which is all he's good enough to be here).

Not sure how reliable the source is (mate of a bloke at work) but he works for United in some capacity.

Says DeMerit is a done deal and will join up with us when he is back from the World Cup.

Not a world beater but a steady and reliable player for this league, wouldn't be unhappy.

I would, he looked awful in the World Cup and also in the last few seasons for Watford. I'd sooner have Nosworthy or even Bartley over him.

Does he have enough pace to complement Morgan ? We don't want to have the same problem as England with a slow ponderous pairing of Terry/Upson.

This wont happen. Blackwell wants Nosworthy (permanent) and Bartley (loan). Seems quite apparent.

If (hypothetically), De Merit did come, he would be natural cover for Morgan. Too similar to play together.

Piece of, marking stumps like Heskey and Rooney though.

Personally I would rather have Nozzer back but I thought DeMerit would be more likely as we wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee, I would also imagine the wages would be quite a bit lower.

Not bothered about having Bartley back, he didn't impress me at all.

A few seasons ago I read that Watford fans were surprised to see him work better with Malky MacKay, also an experienced, but slow centre half, than quicker options.

Apparantly comes on Trial next week. Is this the defender that KB was "looking at" at this World Cup?

Christ, I hope not. The only defender that looked worse than him at the World Cup was Carney. Apart from all the ones in England shirts, obviously.

Still under contract BV Veendam, already played his first friendly....Veendam is asking around a million Pounds for him, too much for Feyenoord Rotterdam, Heracles Almelo, SC Heerenveen and FC Groningen.
I expect that he will go to Germany during this transferwindow. Freiburg and Sankt Pauli seem to be interested in him.

No chance we'll be getting him then.

Do you know whether we're interested in any other Dutch based players?

If its the same one I've seen it's Premblades on BladesMad.

He also says the Sharp money will go on Halford (!), and that we aren't signing Simon Jordan (?!).

Simon Jordan? What do we want with the ex Palace chairman? :)

Anyway, I asked the same question and I think it should have been Stephen Jordan!

you're usually ITK too Bob. Good signing if true

I'm really not ITK certainly not on this deal, but I hear things from time to time some I can post, some I can't. I have absolutely no idea if this one is happening or not.

As for the deal I'm split on this one.

DeMerit I'm not sure about and it depends on which one we get. The one Watford had 2-3 years ago or the one who played last season.

As for Halford he's great when he fancies playing, he just doesn't fancy it anywhere near as often as I'd like and he is very much out for himself.

To be honest Bob last season De Merit was hindered by a horrendous eye injury that was so severe at one stage it was thought he may lose sight in the eye. No doubt this affected both his confidence and performance but he is now fully fit so hopefully if je does sign it will be the one Watford had a couple of years ago.
