If the proposed Newcastle United takeover goes through and the main financial contributor is, as is being suggested, another member of the Saudi royal family - is that likely to result in any change to the situation, or prospects of gaining additional funding, at SUFC ? Any thoughts , or insight ?

No as "our" Prince is out on his own whereas their Prince is one of the ultra rich ones. So we will have scouse crow soon and soon to be followed by Geordie "hotbed for football" bollocks. I suppose after Ashley they deserve a break.

We don't know what could have gone on behind the scenes. We may have been approached and discussions held but there wasn't any agreement. And this could have been for any number of reasons. Maybe the prince didn't want to step aside or they wanted to tear up the squad and management and spend £100s of millions on players and facilities? Nobody knows..

It's all quite disappointing though as surely we would have been the place to invest. After all we will basically be rivals on a number of fronts next year.

As I've told any geordies I've worked with over the last few years, he (Ashley) always turns over a profit for you :)

Anyone can asset strip liquidate assets and call it a profit. Centrica did that when I was there sold off loads of profitable assets one was making 11% return on investment, liquidated them and then posted it as a profit. They have very few players left to sell so he's decided to sell the club itself. He is retailer and selling things is therefore what he knows best.

Have the papers forgotten that this is the premier league and they will do whatever is in their best financial interests like most other companies in this world. Football is corruption 😂

It's not as easy as that tbh.

Qatar are major backers of both the EPL and UEFAs competitions. There's a chance that the EPL could be hit with sanctions if they allow the deal to go through, as they would be seen to backing piracy.

Yeah I get that, but that doesn't stop the Saudis just nodding there heads and agreeing to stop the problems, sliding brown envelopes getting sorted then doing nowt 😂
