3 Ways to end the season

I don't know how the players contracts are worded, but I assume there is a contract end date, that is not linked to the completion of the competition. Regardless, it should be easy enough to just create one standard addendum that can be appendixed to every player's contract, whether they have several years remaining or several days. And that addendum would be very simple to do...something along the lines of...

I (name of player) agree to remain under contract to (Sheffield United Football Club) until the completion of all Sheffield United Football Club games relating to the 2019/2020 Premier League competition. All existing terms and conditions of my contract will remain the same throughout this period.

There we go! Now get the bloody thing signed and get on with it!

I was thinking it being more a case of Man U saying the loan ended on the 30th June, tough shit, we want him back.

If we get Champions League football at their expense, how much would that cost them?

I see where you're coming from with this, but I'd be very surprised if they did that. It would be hard for them to argue it advantages them in any great way, because by their actions, they clearly feel they have a better option than Henderson, otherwise he wouldn't be here on loan in the first place. It would also be likely to upset the player. And, as good as Henderson is, he is one eleventh of the matchday team, so it's not like we are going to fall apart at the seams if he isn't playing.

It's amazing to think our season might come down to a battle with Man Utd for the last European spot. I didn't realise Man Utd were that good, did you?;)

A lot has changed since they agreed to loan him to us, both for Hendo and De Gea.

It depends what Ole is thinking for next season, he might say to Hendo “you’re my number 1 next season, so that’s why we want you back”. In which case Deano will be more than happy.

It’s all speculation and we don’t know the details of the contract, but this is our only potential worry with the season going past June.

Fifa: Summer transfer window to move & player contracts ending 30 June to be extended

It’s all been agreed by FIFA already with the possible exception of players or clubs mounting a legal challenge.

That would involve them going up against FIFA, the EPL and the FA not to mention public opinion. I can’t see Man.U doing that for Henderson.

If any player wanted to leave that badly, I would think their club should just let them but it will be a tiny minority.

Definitely not worth throwing away the last seven months of football for which is why it’s a red herring.
