Been saying to mates for a while it would be our luck to get this far and this close only for the league to be null and void and last seasons qualifiers start in the European competitions but come to think of it peak Sheffield united would be to qualify through this route only for UEFA to decide to scrap next seasons competitions.

If I wasn't a blade I think id hope for the latter

Postpone the restart until September finishing in November with a winter Euros and winter preseason before moving to Feb/March season starts and a calendar year season like the MLS, essentially moving pre-season to the winter from now on, also worth remembering the next World Cup is in the winter too.

Don't you think that if games are played behind closed doors, we'd be at an advantage? Without crowds, our management team's strengths would be even more clear.

I don't care if it takes till Christmas, get them played and start next season when this one has been finished, whenever that is.

Agree, I think we’ll be more suited than most to play behind closed doors.

It’s been said many times by the players our training matches are played with the intensity of full on matches. Training matches without crowds. Other clubs don’t do that and it will perhaps be a bigger adjustment for them playing full on without a crowd.

Scotland finished all but the prem as they stood, but all the finishing spots were pretty clear cut , no play offs would work in the efl if 3rd or in div 2 4th are given automatic as well as 5th to fill the gap bury left

I think it will be played out one way or another , even if it’s just to quell all the potential legal / financial issues that would undoubtedly ensue .
If or when it does start so many dynamics could change , transfer window will probably re-opened so clubs could yet again strengthen where they wouldn’t have , clubs will poss have players returning that had long term injuries ie. Spurs with Kane & Son and the one dynamic you can’t re-create at a click of the fingers .. teams form .
It’s one of those we’ll never how things would have played out naturally & doubly disappointing as we were riding the crest of a wave .. let’s hope if or when things do start we get our just desserts ????

None of the options are fair.
Option 1 doesn't take into account the fact that we have played Liverpool and Man City twice whereas some others have only played them once.
Option 2 we played Liverpool and Man City at home first other teams may have played them away first we have an unfair advantage.
Option 3 it's both stupid and unfair to use predictions period. Teams go through runs and form changes.

None of them give the chance for the teams facing relegation to do anything about it despite teams may have players returning from injury or returning to form. That would therefore open up to litigation etc.

I don't think there is a fair way of ending the season without playing all the games. So it would have to be null and void or play 2 seasons over a three season period. This season and next season played over a period or 20/21 and 20/22 placing the Euros between them.

This thing isn't going away fast as we started with 4 or 5 people with this and now we have 13K dead. So even if the numbers are coming down that's still people with it and they will pass it on to others. So to get COVID 19 gone requires no person in the UK with the virus before we can return to normality. Unless we have a vaccine which is September at the absolute earliest.

Having said I'd prefer a certain option, I have a feeling it'd be akin to the opposition having a goal chalked off by a narrow/dodgy VAR decision. Good for us, but something about it just doesn't quite feel right.

European qualification would have been awarded, not fully earned (I say fully, as obviously we've done a lot or hard work to get us near those places). Of course I'd love to see us play in European competition, I'm just not sure how I'd feel about how we got there given the circumstances.

Anyway, I reckon it's a tad irrelevant. Wilder is confident the games will get played somehow (if his good made Wit is to be believed) so I'll go along with that line of thought.

That's easy!

There's a board game called "Wembley" and you've got cards with all 92 football clubs on them and a set of coloured dice. If you're a 4th division side (League 2 as we now call it) you get the blue or the white dice which have lower numbers than the dice for the 3rd division, which have lower numbers than the dice for the 2nd division which have lower numbers than the dice for the 1st division.

You just play off against each other by rolling the dice to get the score - and it's dead easy!

I've played it loads of times and there's no health risk to it either.

Last time I played it I was about 9 year old and hadn't started supporting any football team back then. So I can't remember if t' Blades were in it, but I do remember you get blank cards so you can add whatever team you like. I think this would be a great way to finish the FA Cup and I look forward to a Sheffield United v Frickley Colliery final.

Option 1 is what I suggested on here several weeks ago, as a back up if we really couldn't play the games. I ended up getting into an argument with someone who suggested option 2 - which I think it's the craziest option of them all. Anyway, no matter, my preference is very clear...

Play the games. Finish this season before you start another one. However long that takes. That's the only fair way to do it.

This 30th June deadline is a total red herring being pushed by teams who will benefit from the season being voided or ended now.

Is it really such a big deal if a few players contracts run out and they choose not to agree an extension until the actual end of the season?

Squads change during the season in January every year and nobody claims that the “integrity of the competition” has been ruined because of it.
