Like he did Howard & Harper

Or is this the player to fire united up the league ?

Howard was never any good, lived off the "Liverpool" goal for years and hasn't done owt at Reading. Harper was good at running around, pointing and shouting but not much else.

Providing we continue to play the way we did in the last 2 games of last season, Britton will fit in ok

Barnsley & Reading fans would say different they both seemed to be pretty decent before Blackwell got his hands on them

Actually, the consensus of the Barnsley fans was that he was overrated and they didn't mind losing him. He was crap form start to finish and it had nothing to do with tactics.

Similarly Reading fans reckoned Harper had lost it when he joined us, he couldn't get in their team.

Do you honestly think our tactics 'ruined them'? That's such an easy thing to say, but when these players do nothing with the ball when they do have it it's a bit hard to blame anyone slse but themselves.

There saying the same now about Bogdanovic but he was the difference in Barnsley staying up and going down last season if they don't replace his goals for next season they'll be in the same league as Wednesday the season after

How can a manager ruin a player?

If he has the abiity to control a ball, pass it and shoot, take a player on etc... how can a manager "ruin" that?

They may use tactics that don't show them at their best but surely if you are quality people would see that?

I didn't see that in the players mentioned.

I don't think ruin is the right word.

Is it possible that Blackwell will use tactics that don't exploit the full potential of Britton? - Yes, but at the moment I'm optimistic.

No they wont, unless you can get relegated 2 leagues at a time now ;)

personally,i would have given harper another season.but he didnt want it.so bugger off.leon britton a far better ball player than him.(why on earth swansea havnt contracted him is crazy)but good for us.As far as him being `Ruined`,well, britton is a much more tailored footballer who has much more in the tank than harper, maybe even to the fact that britton has yet to peak in his footballing prowess.lets hope so anyway.oh,howard, well not to much you can say about him(apart from his goal v preston in playoff semi)he was bobar.

A tale of two clubs (and summat about Jags). A massive club? Wrong Sheffield team, Britton!

I read in an article that it is common knowledge that blackie wants to change his tactic. So to answer your question a couple more signings like this then YES it could fire us up the league.

I would disagree with that comment mate. Barnsley fans said Howard had a good game here and there (especially when on tv). With Harper, I thought most Reading fans said he wasn't the same player he used to be.

I can't claim to know what the consensus of all the fans was, but the ones I know said he was great until he started saying how much he wanted to play for us and got his transfer, then they said he was rubbish and we were welcome to him.

Britton has a Tasche in his Swansea Profile pic! Whats going on? First Boggy with his alice band and beard, now Britton and his tasche! Blackwell Out (at the Barbers)

I believe they offered the largest contract Swansea City have offered to any player in their history, so I don't think they had much choice tbh.

Wants to, or is being instructed to?

Britton should be a good player for us but I wouldn't expect him to score many goals. He's a ball playing defensive midfielder, with Montgomery and Ertl it'll be interesting to see our approach to games next season. Perhaps two defensive midfielders with wingers such as Ward and Yeates only concentrating on supporting the attack?

I'm not getting the Leon Britton love-in.
Surely Pratley was their midfield powerhouse?
Sounds like another steady-eddie midfielder who'll be similar to Quinny.

Consistancy: Brian Howard = Mike Tonge. The decent game every five made you think that it would all come good for them, but the other four games gave you the slap in the face for daring to think it.

Harper: Good player, once...

I'm convinced Tonge was solar powered, he saved up all his good games for warm weather.

I heard from a Swansea mate last night that Brittan is on 20k a week at the Lane.

i think britton will be a quality signing and might actually be a reason for blackwell to abandon his awful tactics and play some football. hopefully we'll be back to hard to beat, and hard to get anything from again.
