If they offered 2 mill they would snap their hands off ,doubt the board would invest it in getting Simonsen though more likely a cheaper option and rest to disappear into the black hole.

Dont like the idea of letting delboy go.No fukin back up again.BRAINLESS FUKIN BLACKWELL.

This is Geary who has hardly played in two seasons and is injury prone to an extent that we probably won't get anymore than 15 games out of him?

Unfortunately, Geary is yet another one of those players that I'll really miss at the Lane - the type of player that you always felt was part of the heart and soul of the club. If Monty goes, that effectively leaves Morgs and Paddy. But we can't guarantee Geary'll be fit enough to play a weekly part next season, so it hasn't come as a major surprise (and perhaps he thinks he can get a regular role elsewhere).

We're in for another massive turnaround of players - presumably a combination of lower league players, the odd promising one, a couple of Ryan France esque players, and the inevitable loanees with the excuse that nobody else is available. I can't see next year being any different to this one I'm afraid...

Most business will be done towards the end of June, so why fret about it now? We could always wait and see who comes in and decide if we like them then, rather than predicting disaster and declaring next season a write-off already..?

no, people enjoy writing United off and slagging them off for things they may or maynot do too much for that to be a sensible option! :D

It's a disgrace. We should have given Harper a three-year deal on ridiculous wages, as Hull City did with Jimmy Bullard.

No need. Williamson is filling the midfield crock role quite nicely, and for less money.

Thanks for posting the squad and contract info, Foxy. Nice to have an updated picture, although the thought of a good percentage of that lot having to play is chilling. Whilst there will no doubt be permanent arrivals, I assume we'll end up with at least 3 or 4 loans too due to our lack of cover and (supposed) resources, which is not an ideal way to start out. We shall see.

Ah, but can we?

Any opinion when someone signs that isn't "Fantastic, what a great signing" is immediately pounced upon as whinging and not giving someone a chance.

I suggest someone gets a list of all the worlds available players and we can all rate them now. Then if they sign our opinion is already known and there'll be no surprises.

This now leaves us with:

Defenders:

Jordan Stewart - Contracted till end of 2011

Is Stewart not a right winger then ;)

I can't believe he got a contract past this year, hopefully some misguided MLS team will come in for him and we'll pick up a minimal fee.

Gutted for Del, but I think i heard that he was Leeds bound... Hope not

I'm disappointed to see Del go as well, I can understand it tho given his injuries but according to the Star (not sure how true this is then!) Del wanted to stay on and was willing to go for a pay as you play deal to prove his fitness.

Sheffield Star said:
While sources close to the negotiations between United and Montgomery insist they remain hopeful of a successful outcome, Blackwell's side appear unlikely to mount such stiff resistance when it comes to Geary.

The hugely popular full-back, who battled back from a career-threatening knee injury last year, is prepared to accept a pay-as-you-play deal to prove his fitness.

But United have so far ignored Geary's gesture of good faith and seem certain to let him leave.

whilst some may say there's no room for sentiment in the hard financial times that may lay ahead, I would've liked us to give Del Boy another year.

Poor bugger, hope he gets fixed up soon.

Poor bugger indeed. Whilst he's been sitting on the sidelines he's probably been earning wages that many of us can only dream about.

Maybe he should offer to play for free. Like the guy from Milan :D

TBH, im going to reserve judgement. Although i know it will be a case of 4-5 signings with 3 or 4 long term loans.

If Del is off to Leeds, it wouldn't surprise me if our friends in League 1 end up with a few with wilko pulling the strings now. I know let paddy go and have loan keepers all season works a treat........ I don't think we need to be letting anymore go it should all be recruiting from now on if we have any chance of having a decent season. I hope the core signings are soon as WC players are obviously foreign lads. Surely there must be a few on frees we can have a look at now. Get them signed up

latest rumour on 606 is that leeds are after morgs and monty.. and hendo and paddy are off to qpr.. if morgs goes to leeds there will be a riot.. i've still not forgiven them for mick jones and TC.. what i really want to know is how come noone is in for quinny?? maybe because he is crap?

I think the key word in your post is "rumour"

Let's wait and see before it's shoes off in the car park

i think aksalu will be our back up keeper for next season, apparently blackwell rates him quite highly

Oh, come on.

We all know, if he were to be back up, should an injury happen to Kenny (if he isn't sold) we will sign a back up replacement to put in goal on loan.
Aksalu, might drop a ball and the crowd might get on his back, so we can't risk him.

Not a surprising list really. Although it is sad to see Geary go. One of the cult heroes of the past ten years at Bramall Lane.

If they played to his strengths he certainly would. I think Henderson's a player that you won't realise his impact till he's gone.

Can you honestly see kevin Blackwell's Sheffield United playing to Henderson's strengths? Blackwell picks wingers on how they can defend, rather than attack or cross a ball. It's not Henderson's fault (as you are right that we don't utilise him properly) but I think we'd be better off without him.

1st on the list shud be cheap as chips ..... followed close by the scouting team !

Ey up, BB. Why have you got it in for the scouting team? On what basis?

hey up tony ........all the fookin super stars they have signed over the years :D ........mind yer when i think about it are they fighting a battle wi there arms tied ?

Scouts don't sign players. Think the "hands tied" bit is probably more like it, BB. :)

Anybody who recommends Andly Taylor, Jordan Stewart, Ryan France, Andrew Davies, Michael Stokes, Craig Beattie, Jonathan Fortune, Mathew(?) Spring and Brian Howard wants shifting out on their ear!? It's all good and well Blackwell taking the flack (as he singed them) mbut somebody must have pointed them in his direction!?

Many a true word spoken in jest Tony. Essentially scouts have ther hands tied because no matter how good a player is then Blackwell (erm I mean cheap as chips) is sure to make them look a sunday leaguye player!?

I don't understand releasing Del Boy. They've stood by him and waited so long for him to try and get fit. When he looks like he has any sort of fitness returning they get rid? A little confusing.

Perhaps having waited his fitness is not where it needs to be?
