Do you really "fear" him going there? I couldn't give a damn myself. I think Pearson is a good manager. I was surprised actually to hear him speaking so articulately about football when he took over at Watford recently, and he's done really well for them. But do you really think a manager like Pearson, with the track record he has, currently managing in the Prem, would want to take on the poisoned chalice of S6 and a club that is pointing more in the direction of League 1 than the Premiership? I think it's extremely unlikely to happen.

Pearson has said on more than one occasion, that he wouldn't want to manage in Sheffield, because he lives here. He'd have peasants round his house smashing his windows several times a week and twice on Sundays, managing that shower of shite.

He might not fear him going to them anymore. In the 16 months-ish since his comment, he may have changed his mind

There were plenty of Warnock haters on here who were keen to believe Megson’s version of the truth.

I'm in the dislike Warnock camp (don't hate him but just don't buy all this big Blade stuff, he just wanted the money) but not as much as I can't stand Megson. I didn't believe Warnock had tried to abandon it, I think Browny has shown that.

A bit like Bowyer has, I think Browny would make a good manager if he had Kozzy as his assistant as they are close mates. He has a good football knowledge, has a workman like grasp of the game, played at most levels, is respected as well as a good sense of humour which helps. IMO I would like to see him go and manage at a smaller club in the same way Curtis Woodhouse is doing and build up some experience.

Yeah I think Brownie was assistant to Page and then took over when Page left. I don't remember them being all that good when Brownie was manager, which is probably why he wasn't there long.

Bumping this old thread as Andy Johnson has given his version of events on the Undr the Cosh podcast this week.

He said that:

• Santos went into his elbow in 2001 by accident (hmm..) and he initially thought Santos was faking until he saw the damage
• Robert Ullathorne told Johnson that the week before the game Warnock had told Santos that he would be released at the end of the season and that he didn't need Santos against WBA but that he would put him on the bench and bring him on and give him enough time to get his revenge
• Megson asked Johnson if he wanted to sit the game out, as there were rumours that Santos was out for revenge. Johnson declined to sit out
• Johnson was subbed after the sendings off, and Santos tried to attack him in the tunnel and dressing rooms
• Johnson was told that when WBA went on tour after winning promotion at the end of that season Santos was at one point in the same airport and was looking for him.
• Johnson has not seen Santos since
• Santos' had always had a reputation as a quiet and mild mannered bloke prior to the incident.

Make of that what you will.

Someone should make a talking heads documentary about that game.

I think that Johnson wouldn't take responsibility for it in the way Morgan did with his elbow was part of the problem. Had he apologised, stated that he was horrified by the injury and otherwise acted like a man the whole "battle of Bramall lane" wouldn't have taken place.

I think Warnock was a big Blade at the time he joined us. I just think Warnock loves himself more than he could ever love a club, and probably over the years of success at other sides you lose the attachment to what was once the dream job.

And I don't think the game getting abandoned was ever on anyone's mind. I do think we all knew what Santos was going to do when he stepped on the pitch and Warnock putting him in there was disgraceful.

I’m quite shocked that the testimony of Andy Johnson paints Andy Johnson as the completely innocent victim.

It’s a good Podcast tbh, it’s not so much he paints himself as innocent - more that he doesn’t give a fuck!
Comes across as quite a character to say the least, some of the stories involved shooting people with a 12 bore shotgun after drinking 18 pints so I think crazy Santos wouldn’t worry him too much.
mine of those people you want to hate due to his history with us but overall he is quite entertaining.

Johnson grassed on Bradders when at Norwich. Did he mention that?

My mate used to coach Ullathorne's son at a certain club's school of excellence. He was out of his depth and my mate couldn't understand why he was there when given the job. Ullathorne never went to watch him but when he got released he turned up to have a go at my mate.
