I cannot remember the last time, if ever, that I saw a football team play with as discernible, distinct blueprint as ours.

I know I am biased, but it is truly fantastic. Everyone knows their roles, everyone knows where to be, and when to rotate positions, when to press on and when to hold. I can't recall a more regimented, professional tactical blueprint, even in the most successful of sides. Even those sides relied on generally having the most intelligent, athletic, skilful individuals. Ours is very much a sum of the parts and the most cohesive sum at that. It is such a privilege to turn up each week (not expecting, because that suggests a sense of entitlement) but believing that we will compete, no matter who we are up against.

No other side in the division has such an established blueprint, not even the champions elect. Not a single side in the football league. It almost feels as though every other club across the country relies ever so slightly more on luck and chance on a match day than we do, because instead, almost everything our 11 do is deliberate, and as planned as it can be. In this way, no individual is bigger than the system. There's no wonder the management are gathering praise from far and wide.

The norm for any team is to have a bit of structure BUT they mainly rely on individual talent to create goals.
So the successful teams target players with the most individual ability.

The beauty with Unit’s is that we are totally reliant on a structure.
We then target players to fit into that structure....these aren’t always the most talented so we can get them cheaper.
Individually I still don’t think any of our players are top PL level but we are such a “team” and we consistently overcome better individual players.

Really think Wilder is creating history and is showing what amazing things can be achieved with structure and teamwork.

After the game I was raving about what a great team performance it was. In particular:

McBurnie’s constant running, even on 90 minutes when he was absolutely exhausted he knew what his job was and he kept at it.

McBurnie’s celebration at the final whistle. Strikers at most clubs believe their primary objective is to score goals and get a bit sulky when they don’t. Our strikers are like every other squad member, they’re part of the team and have plenty of responsibility beyond goal scoring. He was clearly delighted with the win, but I sensed he was really chuffed with his own non-goal scoring contribution to the team performance.

Moose. He needed to give the team a lift, an injection of energy. Go out and make an impact. Made the winning goal.

Lunny. Been pushed hard by Besic in recent weeks and lost his place. Watched Berge start the last two. Is being challenged to up his game, has carried on working hard and did his part off the bench.

The squad is growing, in quality, in depth, in commitment, togetherness. The hard work these lads put in each week and on match day is the key to our success, and it can’t be bought. I’ll say what I’ve been saying since August: we’ve got the best manager in the league.

Robbie Savage did a piece on us on BT Sport which was shown prior to the game, where he attended training. Then afterwards he was remarking how he noticed that our training was different to what he'd experienced before because it was far more position specific. Hence why each player knows his role.

He also 'savaged' a few well known lazy pundits and asked Wilder if he pinned anything to the dressing room walls.... "Of course we do" was the response.

one other thing I picked up was on the Colin Murray podcast.CW was very open and honest but there was one thing that he said he had pickedup fromFergie that he used with the squad and he wouldn’t say what it was

I think part of the key is that as much as we don't have a superstar we also don't have a weak link. We have a group of players who are all very well rounded and, strikers aside, capable of playing different positions and the way we move about the pitch means they all support each other and cover for each other. They're allowed to excel at what they do best while being protected from any weaknesses they might have.

When I listen to the analysis of other teams it's always about some weak point they have, with us it's about not having a star player.

I agree with the points made in the Op, but I would go a bit further.The devil is in the detail, and the minor, but subtle changes that CWAK employ in training, and also use to give further fluidity during the game.
Opposition teams hate that flexibility that coaching has built in to a well drilled team.
