Retsos signing makes Zero sense all around

Do people get paid for writing this shit? If so, where do I apply?
 
To be fair if the lads coming to get fit and play he won’t be first choice just yet unless wilder plans on dropping Bash

This is actually what I was thinking when it initially came out as just a loan. The lad obviously needs games and THIS season it will be a struggle for him to get a run. However if it is a permanent then he has time to work his way in and be part of said successful defence.
 
In simple terms the report has validity. However don’t think they realise that Wilder is 1 and even 2 steps ahead of the game.

Don‘t forget that Wilder and Knill have never managed at PL before so this season has been a massive learning experience.
We‘re 99% safe and didn’t need to strengthen for the 2nd half of the season.
Most managers wait until the Summer regards signings for next season.....However Wilder is already planning for it now.

If a team want to be successful the normal method is to bring in the best talent....the problem is we can never hope to compete with the top 6 when it comes to pure talent. You can bet Wilder has a new plan/ new system and he’s buying specific players for that system....the right tool for the job.

Berge is an excellent defensive midfield but is speciality is breaking forward at speak and decent at passing
Retsos is a good versatile defender but his speciality is breaking forward at speed and he’s also decent at passing
Zivkovic, seems he’s not the greatest striker but if the opposition defence pushes up to the half way line then he’s in his element.
It seems that Zivkovic could be quicker than Mousset.....he’ll outsprint most defenders....maybe even a Kyle Walker.

It makes you wonder if Wilder is hoping to take on the top clubs by making us the Athletic Madrid of the PL.
A team that is super organised, hardly ever concedes but always dangerous and quick on the counter attack.

Or Leicester under Ranieri. I’m sure he’ll have looked at both them and Atletico to see how teams on a limited budget overachieve.
 
Regards the Retsos deal James Shield made a really confusing tweet.
He said that according to Wilder if all goes well with Retsos and Bayer Leverkusen agree to let him go then it could become a permanent deal.

My take on this is if all goes well and Retsos gets back up to speed showing some form.
Then whats stopping Leverskusen from saying “thanks for getting him fit and confident...we‘ll have him back now..unless you pay 40 million”.

I’m hoping that the reported 9 million in Summer option is true,

Excellent point....I really believe that Wilder doesn‘t set himself any limits.
He knows it’s impossible to compete with Man Utd, Arsenal the “normal” way.....we can’t even dream to get anywhere near their transfers or salaries.

So as you say...we need another method to compete....they will have studied how teams with limited budgets achieve success in the PL.
Leicester did it and are still doing it. We are traditionally a bigger club than Leicester...if they can compete at the top...then why not us.
 
Journos havent a fucking clue, look a the reaction when we signed The Mousse.
 
The beauty of both signings is if the £9m for Restos is true and speculating that Zivkovic fee would be nominal then if these guys show they have what it takes then with age on their side we could really cash in on these two in 2/3 years.

I only have 5 issues with this article.
1. It's written by someone called Audrick FFS!
2. Bit harsh to say we've had a 'dip' in form in our last 5 games when 3 of those were against Man City and Liverpool.
3. Not knowing Jake Wright's squad staus, he's surplus to requirements and has subsequently terminated his contract (cheers for everything Jake)
4. Playtime? Is he writing about a creche?
5. Does the writer not think that cover in the latter part of the season would be a good idea, what with injuries and suspension.

Can I just say Tarqs that your avatar is beautifully juxtaposed in this instance.
 
Makes sense, at the beginning of the season the media were critical, for not having any back up to cover for injuries and suspensions.Now the Blades have that good cover they are still not happy with us.

The lad is highly rated leverkusen are a great side with world class defenders

Take your point about club size, but not so much on the budget front. Leicester's owners are very wealthy.

6. They reference the back 3 have played in almost every game, then point out we did concede 3 goals against Man Utd... forgetting to mention that is the only game all 3 didn't play.

Man City 602 million
Man Utd 437 million
Arsenal 263 million
Everton 225 million
Brighton 206 million
Wolves 205 million
Aston Villa 161 million
Leicester 128 million
Chelsea 113 million
Liverpool 100 million
Spurs 95 million

These figures could be slightly misleading as they are only NET transfers (comparing players bought with players sold)
They don’t take into account money spent on player salaries.

It's like saying Man City had enough cover with the likes of Gareth Barry etc. So why did they sign Fernandinho and Gundogan ?
