Luke Freeman

He said it after the cup game.

He may feature at Millwall this weekend I reckon.
You’d think so. If he isn’t and he’s not carrying an injury then I might start to believe the rumours.

He may have actually been on the bench the last two matches but he was just given Kieron's shirt by mistake.

The 'go-to' formation when chasing games is 4-4-2, with the midfield 4 playing as a diamond. Robinson has come on as the top of the diamond last two games but for me Freeman would have been the better person in that role last two games, especially arsenal away. Robinson did ok imo, but freeman behind a front two would be a very positive option.

I think he'd have been a decent replacement when hanging on in games and replacing a forward, but he and us cant really complain as they way we've gone about things has nearly got us to safety already.

Might see a bit of a different style over the last 10 games of the season, a little more attacking from the outset

I agree totally with this. Freeman is much more physical and aggressive than Robinson. Against Fylde he was MOTM - he and Osborn were great together. OK Fylde aren’t Arsenal, but they are certainly physical and Luke chased down everybody and got stuck into some very meaty challenges.

Robinson could be twice the player he is if only he had Luke’s level of physical aggression.

It is true that our success (and lack of injuries/suspensions) has worked against opportunities for Luke and Ben - which must have made the last few months incredibly frustrating for the pair of them. I'm not a big fan of Robbo who I think is a touch lightweight and (in my view) Luke would have been a reasonable alternative UNLESS he has pissed off CW/AK behind the scenes. I rated him at QPR and I don't think he should only be seen as competing with Fleck for a place. Mo deserves a chance but he really isn't a wide player and goal threat like Lunny (when in form). No reason Luke couldn't be an option on right hand side too (Mahrez does it) but sadly it seems CW doesn't fancy him. In Wilder we trust - he is fantastic but he does have a stubborn side! The side to play Millwall will speak volumes as to LF having any chance of pitch time in coming weeks.

If Freeman goes someone needs to put Ricky on suicide watch.

Would be a massive shame if he does go, a loan to a decent Championship club wouldn't be a bad move for him assuming he won't get a game here. I'd like him back though as I think he'll have a part to play next season.

Does everyone not believe what Wilder is saying in pretty much every press conference and interview since City game? Nobody is going anywhere...yet. Its like we're fueling twitter rumours when it could all have been tactical why he hasn't been making the bench.

I don't think he meant 'nobody', he means first team regulars (like JOC as this is what he was asked about).

Freeman will be the new Lundstram next season. He's played a bit part this season because, in order to survive and consolidate our position in the prem, we have had to adopt tactics that are not particularly suited to his game. I think next season will be different. I think we will play more possession based football and work the ball around the opponents box like we did in the Championship with Duffy in the side. We are already started to see a slight change in our game. We went toe to toe with Man City - we certainly didn't park the bus anyway. Ultimately, that maybe cost us, but there are at least 12 sides in the prem that we know we now should not fear. Wilder is not a defensive minded manager - he wants to attack and dictate the pace and pulse of the game.

With a couple of additions I think next season Freeman will come into his own.

Mahrez plays on the right side of the front three in a 443. He played on the right wing for Leicester. Freeman plays on the left or, at a push, down the middle. I wouldn’t call not playing a player out of position to appease supporters stubborn. I’d say he’s just doing his job.

Heard a rumour wasn’t named in squad for Arsenal game so refused to travel & wasn’t in squad last night either , there’s also supposed interest from the club 30 miles up the road ?

He was definitely in the squad on Tuesday. You can see him on the "Behind The Blades" video pre-match with the rest of the lads.

Wasn’t named in the 16 though Roy and has been just about all season , unless it’s an injury but they were reporting a fully fit squad , think if he’s not in squad tomorrow there maybe possibly be more than meets the eye ?

Don't get me wrong , I think it's extremely weird why he's not been in the 18 but he was definitely in the squad of 24 or whatever it is.

Does that mean Flecks going ?
Oh the joy of football conspiracy theories.

I was watching him closely today and he's a percentage man. Every cross was decent-good if we had Deano in the team. We don't You notice when Fleck and Norwood but crosses in they put extra pace on them, knowing we're not going to win slow looped crosses in the air. He needs to take more risks.

I thought he was good today. Was everywhere. Fleck mark 2 but obviously not as good but was a pivot in midfield. Proper away day like old times. We were all over them second half. We were enjoying the football from Kazakhstan to Amsterdam we're going away, we're going away

One of our better players, IMO. The only one trying things and threatening. Besic was shite until he scored, I’m fairly sure Wilder was about to replace him. Not that you necessarily need to compare the two, but seeing Besic with a higher rating on here feels silly.

I'd like to see Freeman getting a start or two. Thought he was pretty good today. Quality player and can deliver a killer cross into the box. I'd really like to see what happens with McBurnie on the end of some of those crosses.

Was our best midfielder first half while not being completely polished. Plenty didn’t come off for him but in the absence of Callum Robinson really getting on the ball first half he was the main one to try and link with the attack. Definitely worth keeping.
