Was excellent first half, their CB’s were genuinely frightened by him.

Not sure if he should have scored the chance or if it was just too far away. They go down the other end and score and he lost his way after that, you could see it got to him.

He was terrific. What a handful, great touch, close control, skill “for a big lad.”

Hes already scored important goals for us, but even when he doesn’t score, he’s doing a very effective job.

He’s settling in nicely.

I think last night went some way to proving that McBurnie and McG cannot play together up front. They like to occupy the same space. No surprise that McBurnie has been improving since being allowed to roam deeper with another striker ahead of him, instead of vice-versa.

Really happy for OM, and I think he'll continue to improve. No one ever doubted the signing anyway did they?!

Is annoyingly and consistently missing the best chances that we make. Mostly due to what I state above.

Reasons for optimism for sure. But don’t get carried away just yet.

The key to Oli and Didzys play is Billy. His intelligent positioning let's them play, backing in or pulling wide, providing targets or stretching defences enables the space for their flicks to bring the WBs into the game and others. His speed and energy may have dropped but the know how is getting better.

That’s the best I’ve seen him play so far and I’ve been a little critical of some of his performances where he’s looked half a second off the pace. Understandable when he’s only starting out, but his link up play went up a level yesterday.

No reason why he can’t keep improving game by game. He could develop into a really reliable PL threat like Barnes / wood are for Burnley and really occupy defenders.

Agreed, in the first half especially he was superb, got himself more involved in the game & bossed his duels, Billy was also very good & considering the opposition he isn't done yet by a long way.

yet people near me were still looking for any reason to have a go at mcburnie - even walking away last night i heard people saying that he isnt good enough !!

he is getting better and better and has only been with us since August , the rest of the season and another pre season under CWAK and he could be fantastic for us for a good few years

personally think some fans cant cope with his price tag / off field dress code ! and antics and also his generally awkard-looking style when he is on the pitch
also the fact you cant label him as a 'taget man ' or a 'fox in the box' or a 'pacey striker' etc as he is a bit of everything really ( except Pace!)


last night he reminded me of the player we faced last year agaisnt Swansea both times ! just didnt leave us alone all night and was involved in everything going forward

A little bit of aggression and a few headers won that nearly always don't end up with a team mate and folk reckon we have a real player on our hands. Crazy.

He is never a premier league player in a million years, he's a championship player. The club, staff, players have done remarkable this season and I am already looking forward to next season as we keep progressing as a club but we do not have quality up front that we have running through every position in the team. And I mean anyone up front. Next season I can only see Moussett still being here and that will be because there are no takers. Sharp, McG and Robinson will have moved on. McBurnie will be out on loan as no one would get close to paying what we paid so he will be farmed out. 3 top quality strikers are what is needed short term to take the club forward.
