Why are people suggesting AMC replacements for freeman?

The point isnt that freeman isnt good enough, he started 2 prem games in flecks absence and we picked 4 points up. He was decent and harshly dropped.

The point is, wilder doesnt have space for an AMC in this current style, so replacing with another seems pointless.

Yeah in the mcgoldrick role
According to some fans on here we will be losing a number of players in the window .I accept some names will change but it's already noted that Wilder is looking for 2 or 3 so wholesale changes wont happen.
Its difficult enough integrating 2 or 3 so no big changes will be made.
Most of the summer signings havnt had much chance so far with the promoted players doing so well .

Different playing a left footer in midfield than LCB

Who was going to play RCM then at the start of the season ahead of Lunny as he wasn’t the first Choice

When you essentially have rotation between LWB, LCB, LCM repeatedly in games, it really isn’t. Same with the right side. And again, Wilder has spoken of the importance for this re: overloads and our style in having players in those positions on their natural side.

I’m not sure what you mean re: Lundstram, as he was clearly first choice there from preseason.

Lunstram barely started 5 games last season he was never the first choice going into this season.

He started the first couple of games and he made the shirt his own , but there’s no way when wilder wrote down his 1st 11 for this season than lunny was in that

Fair play to lunny he has shown how good he is

He needs to be used more, he's a real talent and we're lucky to have him.

He started every game in preseason in the position he’s since secured. The signs were there all summer.

Reminds me of Leon Britton. Quality player but doesn’t fit into the Blades way.

Shame really

If we could get our money back from Leeds or maybe even more than that then I'd consider moving him on.

He's quite slow and not that mobile or dynamic. Yes, he can play a bit but I'm not convinced he can get around as much as we need in our formation.

Unless we are going to allow him to play the Duffy role, then I don't see him hitting his full potential and it may be that Osborn is more suited to deputising for Fleck.

Given our formation is based on high energy, I'd imagine a couple of rangey African lads would fit the bill. You know the sort Toure type, able to cover distance at paste, quite strong.

If he started the first couple of games, with a clean healthy squad, doesnt that make him first choice?

I don't think he can play Fleck's role. He's not got the aggression, speed or tackling ability. Whether he can pick those up now, is questionable.

I assumed he'd slip into the Duffy role but we're unlikely to be in a position to play that way unless we're chasing and Wilder seems more inclined to throw on an extra striker instead of tweaking that way. I think he's a good player but his lack of speed, both physically and of thought, may stop him becoming a Premier League player.

Why do people think it’s cause he can’t settle ?
The biggest problem Luke freeman has had moving up north is John Fleck.

People who moan that players sit on the bench will be the same people who moan when a player leaves cause hes not playing
That's funny, cos Flecks biggest issue with moving down south is, erm........................... fuck knows, who cares!

Having now watched the extended highlights, I can't see what the issue is. As Wilder said, there's no reserve league so these guys don't play much. You could counter that means Wilder doesn't trust them enough to come in and give players a rest and rotate the squad. But Wilder doesn't seem to like that idea and goes for if you play well, you keep the shirt. However, as has been said before that doesn't hold up when Freeman played well but lost the shirt anyway to Fleck when he was fit again. That pushed Fleck on, we can only hope that the others don't feel like well no matter how well I play, I will lose my place when they are fit again. It's a fine balancing act and can then lead to a tired first team. We've got this far with a settled first team. I liked what I saw of Freeman (L)

From the Star:

And the former QPR man admits he is happy with life in South Yorkshire after his summer move to Bramall Lane, despite making only three starts in the Premier League.
Freeman issued a timely reminder of his abilities with a brace of assists in United's 2-1 FA Cup victory over AFC Fylde on Sunday, which booked their place in the fourth round.

But national newspaper reports have linked Freeman with a January move to Leeds, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to ensure his side gets over the line in the promotion race after losing out to the Blades last season.

Freeman, though, when asked about that reported interest, admitted: "It's news to me completely. I'm enjoying my time at United, I'm enjoying the Premier League. So all I can do is keep working hard, and long may it continue.

This & the Osborn rumour are complete rubbish. Wilder made clear that Freeman is right behind Fleck when he brought him in while Fleck was injured earlier in the year. Add that to the fact that Freeman is our only dedicated attacking midfielder - and I reckon CWAK will at some point consider whether we need to make more use of one to break down the teams who will sit back against us - and it'd be stupid to let him go right now.

He wasn't first choice? He literally started the whole of pre season, and started the season.

If Freeman doesn't fit into our high energy pressing game how does he fit into Leeds high energy pressing game

Of course it is. No player in his right mind would join a club in a higher league, expect to walk into the first team and throw their toys out of the pram if it doesn’t happen within three months of a three year contract.
Freeman got released by Arsenal as a kid and has had to fight his way back to the top. He knows how it works. If he left now, he’d go back to the championship. Stay and he’ll get enough game time to prove himself and either make it with us or get an offer from another PL club.

As everyone else has said, Lundstram was first choice RCM as soon as Wilder switched from a LCM-AM-RCM three to a LCM-CM-RCM set up with the CM role being a deeplying playmaker and the two central midfielders pushed slightly wider. Last season Norwood played in the narrower RCM role with either Duffy (right footed) or McGoldrick (right footed) in the attacking role.

No chance. I think Wilder likes him and he’s looked good two or three times amongst very few chances. He will get his chance at some point. Well worth keeping. Has that ability to create a chance from nothing.

Not even on the bench today nor was he v West Ham. Is he off or injured?

I'd suggest injured, he played quite well in the FA Cup and his interview after he seemed quite happy. Nothing from cw on it though?
