Hope the Star go under soon, a pathetic excuse of a news paper who employs lazy journalists, get news stories days late and from second hand sources. Then theres that shit website with inappropriate adverts, then they want people to pay for it,haha. Danny Hall was/is better than this shitrag. I Still for some reason read blades news though but only cos ive found a way of not paying for it. They can’t even get the paywall right !

Yeah, hopefully a paper that's now got skeleton staffing and with it almost certainly no lazy staff goes under so quite a few people lose their livelihoods.
Yet you're excited you can get the fruits of other people's labour for free.

So you wouldn't call the article lazy journalism? It's stuff like that that has been partly responsible for the decline, not people commenting on it.

to be fair it’s a bit of a shit show, tinternet has been the death of the local paper,
but I worked for the Star back in the 90’s when they would sell130,000a day, remember the inaudible shout of ‘nheet ‘tar’ from the woodbine smoking streets sellers, and therefore can’t agree that lots of people, many who aren’t journalists but are Sheffielders are put on the dole straight after Xmas mate

No, it isn't. It's the kind of mistake that's made when a business doesn't employ enough people.
Not having enough people to produce a decent output is partly why newspapers are in decline but it's more to do with the bizarre, in hindsight, decision to give all the output away for free online.

Nonsense. The output on line has often been poor since inception. There have been numerous examples on here. We aren't discussing the leader column of the Washington Post here. It's an article that would take anyone 30 seconds to check, that anyone interested in the subject would immediately know was "inaccurate" ( :( ) .

And they want people to pay for it!

Quite possibly it wasn't even uploaded by someone who works for the Star. They've probably got some amalgamated set-up to upload stories from some central hub or summat.
Newspapers everywhere are on their arses, local ones even more than nationals.
That's reality as is the expectation created that the fruits of their labour should be available for free. Can't think of any other business where the owners decided to give their product away for free, relying only on advertising only.
And even then they invested sod all on their websites which are often near impossible to read.
Poor business decisions, poor management but very little to do with people on the shopfloor being lazy.

Sterling defence of the Online Star from someone who will find fault with anything United do.

Re your opening line, who then takes responsibility? The Stars website has always been shocking as has some of the articles posing as journalism. If they’re simply uploading stuff from other sources, more fool them. In this instance, we have two experienced reporters covering United. Yet that piece was allowed to go out.

Their output has been poor for a long time and they don’t seem keen at changing that anytime soon.

They failed to move with the times and have been left behind. Many media outlets around the world have run themselves into the ground. They scrape by with little staff and barely any staff that can produce decent content.

If there is one thing that the internet has done it's separated journalists that always got by winging it and serious journalists that do their research.

That article wasn’t written today. A bunch of old posts, all bizarrely from around the Man U game, all reappeared on the website today.
