People are not understanding what Chris Wilder has said in that tweet. He says he can relate to him going back, he says he has no problem with it, but he also says they have rightly received a letter from the FA. In other words, he agrees with the reminder from the FA to behave.

If you listen to the interview, he is absolutely fine with it. He says he's just glad there were no cameras around when he was playing. He won't have been fined for it put it that way

He said he's fine with the wanker hand gesture?

The fact he's sat laughing about the situation shows what he thinks. 95% of other people in football seen to share his opinion too.

I just don't see the point of still trying to have a go at him (not you personally) for something he's done off the pitch when the manager is clearly fine with it.

To be fair, Cardiff fans are wankers. I remember it kicking off on London Rd after the 5-3 game when Nuddy scored a screamer

I don't agree with people having a go at him, though I don't think people really are, I think some people simply expect him to behave better than that when out in public. CW may be relaxed about it and I doubt it concerns him that much, his priority is how players perform on the pitch, but he still acknowledges that the reminder from the FA is correct.

-Neil Warnock “hes a bit of a prick I’d love to put him in his place but I’m not his gaffer”

Maybe I’ve missed it but I haven’t seen this anywhere in media or on sky sports. This is another side of the lad I guess, posing for photos with young fans. Or perhaps he’s a proper Blade & he’s actually giving the young un a sly left hander to the kidneys 👊🏻

This is the problem I have. For 89 minutes, Oli was probably a fantastic ambassador for our club and footballers in general. Gesticulated that a few Cardiff fans are wankers. They probably are.

Forget the dress sense, what fucking ever. Engaging and chatting with real fans, taking time for selfies and kids, buying pints, being an all round decent lad.

Respect. Proper proper respect from me.

I personally think he’s just been a bit naive. If he still played in the championship this would hardly have got a mention but he maybe needs to be more aware of the media given the amount of positive publicity we’ve had so far in the prem. And we all know how certain parties like to build you up then kick you in the bollocks first chance they get. I appreciate that as a fan at a match he shouldn’t be treated any differently to anyone else but in reality we know this ain’t gonna be the case

Got no problem with him supporting Swansea in his down time. His response to someone who criticised him on Twitter, mocking his teeth is something else. Just because McBurnie can afford to get his teeth sorted does not mean he can mock others for not having that money. In my book that makes him a knob with no class.

Great response from Wilder and good on Oli for showing that some footballers really do care about the game and what it means.

I have been listening to a podcast with Danny Baker and Lineker. baker comes across really well, but Lineker, who is held up as a role model comes across as a completely self obsessed arrogant dick. Looking down on Baker for supporting Millwall and watching games in the 3rd division. Give me Oli as a role model any day. Might not achieve as much but more my kind of guy.

Getting your teeth sorted is not the preserve of the rich and famous, but anyway, I don't really prescribe to the "you're not allowed to give it back if you're famous" stuff.

They're people, and should be allowed the same privileges as us, including having a bit of back and forth on social media.

Look at Laura Woods' Twitter, she absolutely destroys people multiple times a week in a similar vein to McBurnie but no-one is calling her a disgrace.

The bloke called him a “true idiot” and was stirring things with his employer (CWRAWW)

I was raised to come back harder if someone had a go at me - and thats what I would hope any of my fellow Blades would do to make sure others aren’t taking the piss.

The drink driving thing is twattishness of the highest-calibre and if he gets found guilty he’ll go way down in my estimations.

But scoring 7 points’ worth of goals, flirting with a porn B-lister and calling wankers wankers/bad teeth bad teeth only makes me like him more.

The reply to the bloke was along the lines of eating summat through a tennis racket I think

Full video of Wilder talking about McBurnie:

Totally agree with owd tufty at least he’s not a manager that will be hard on him, 2 things oli might want to change though Is his dress sense 😉 and how he goes on on twitter.

I wonder how many people moaning about a rude gesture also moan about "snowflakes".

Why is he a loose cannon?
He denies drink driving
Obscene gestures (course you've never made the wanker sign)
Average he was head and shoulders best forward v Wet Spam.

The lad is 23 he's out with his mates probably had a drink is he not allowed, okay moderate behaviour a wee bit possibly but society today is full of girlie doo gooders. What he's doing is tame to what I imagine most 23 year olds do at a game, and definitely tame to what we did at that age.

I don't imagine saying Oli you can't watch Swansea no more I'm putting you in a monastery after every game, that way people cannot jump to silly conclusions about you on saying that wish he didn't dress like a Happy Monday's reject.

Drink driver = alcohol over limits breathalyser confirms = not me guv = he’s an idiot
