Did I spot the first “Blades will be relegated next season” post amongst that article?

Ah well, if the majority of folks called it wrong for us this season then no harm in them putting us down for relegation next season I suppose. They may be right eventually, but they may have to wait a few years yet.

From where I’m stood we don’t have to accept anybody’s assessment of our team, especially if they’re below us or not in the same league..

And, Villa - please, they’ve learned nothing and will probs go down and repeat the financial debacle of two years ago.. waiting for another cash ridden sap when this one cashes his chips in, my prediction is they’ll sack the manager in the next two weeks !

I was on the Villa forum yesterday and they were saying the same. The whole poor players, getting by on effort, will struggle next season...

Most of these players have been playing this way for 3 seasons now and adapted as we've gone higher and higher. They might not have cost loads but they have proven beyond doubt they are good players. I think it's just a case of the clichéd modern football fan who just equate transfer fees to talent.
Villa - The team we have obliterated every time we have played them for the last 2 years, with the exception of a freak ten minutes?

I know the review of other fans forums is Roy's domain but I happened to be reading Friends of Fulham this weekend and saw this thread there dedicated to Sheffield United. Bar very few comments, I find what Fulham's fans say about us quite complimentary.
I will also be a “Friend of Fulham” if they prevent Wendy going up and manage to claw Leeds back.

“We beat them twice comfortably last time and they have pretty much the same team”

Ok mate. 🤨

Another lot sticking up for the spammers re var and the hand ball.
I would say to anyone who takes that view, imagine the cricket version being used, where the 'ball tracker 'comes into play. Now ,take Rices' hand away, and
What direction would the ball take..?
Certainly not to his feet to play that ball to Snotgrass!
While I'm on,I love watching CWAK's brand of football!!How dare they criticize!
UTB.

To be fair I would not expect them to be watching us play.

Even though we are a PL team and feature on MotD we usually are the last in the running order when the beer induced Z’s has vastly reduced the audience

When will oppo fans realise that spending gazillions on a player doesn't always guarantee outstanding players. A lot of things that are said of us are very true. We are hard working, we do get stuck in, we do play for each other, we never give up but more importantly we CAN play outstanding football when we are on it. We can go long, go short, play the channels and through the middle and that's why we are not predictable and not easy to play against.

This will only take us so far though as we need to gradually keep adding technically better and faster players over the coming seasons but just because a players costs £60m it doesn't mean he can tick all of the above to fit in with our style and ethos.

Fortunately for us, the management that got us into this position know exactly what to do and I do believe how to achieve it. Sheff Utd summer 2019 spend £43m? and Villa approx £150m? - that tells you all you need to know! It's the player attributes that you look at and not the player's name.

The journey will continue of that I am sure :)

“We beat them twice comfortably last time and they have pretty much the same team”

Ok mate. 🤨
Obviously 5 of the side that 3-0 at Craven Cottage are still in the team. 5/11 is pretty much the same team. I mean less than half is pretty much isn't it?

Our players don't have low individual ability, they don't have the highest individual ability in the league but they have plenty of individual ability, they just don't play as individuals so they don't need it.

Look at a Pepe, he's got loads of it you'd say, the way he's always trying to dribble the length of the pitch. Yeah he loses the ball 8/10 times but bags of individual ability.

I remember many years ago on a radio broadcast, the commentary team were talking about some players who have aptitude for the game but not much talent (Chris Morgan) and others who have talent but no footballing brain (Jamal Campbell-Ryce).

We seem to have struck the balance right where we don't have a load of show ponies who make poor decisions and worker ants who can head it and kick it but can't break a game open, our lads are capable of doing both equally when it's required.
All boils down to attitude, the environment you're in and the people you're working with, get those right and you're onto a winner

We had Championship quality sides when we played them now. Our current side would hammer either of the United sides which played Fulham in the 2017/18 season. In fact, it's amazing that the side which faced them at home both scored four and nearly got a point.

United 4-5 Fulham

Blackman - now at Vitesse on loan from Chelsea having spent last season either on loan at Leeds or recovering from a broken leg

Carter-Vickers - sent back to Spurs in January, spent the second half of that season at Ipswich and now on loan at Stoke
Wright - back at United having spent the first half of this season at Bolton
O'Connell - still at United

Basham - played RWB against Fulham; now a lynchpin centre-half
Lundstram - bit-part player last season, pivotal this season following the formation tweak
Duffy - imploded in the summer, sent on loan to Stoke for the first half of this season
Fleck - continues to amaze having taken naturally to the PL
Stevens - turning into a class act

Clarke - 6th choice centre forward
Sharp - 4th choice centre forward

Subs
Brooks (for Carter-Vickers) - perenially injured at Bournemouth
Carruthers (for Duffy) - now at Cambridge in L2 having spent last season at Oxford. Loves a University town.
Hanson (for Wright) - now at Grimsby having spent last season at Wimbledon.

Fulham 3-0 United

Blackman

Basham
Stearman - has just joined Huddersfield
O'Connell

Baldock - first choice right wing back who looks a natural in the PL
Evans - sold to Wigan in the summer. Awful footballer whose impact on United can be summed up by Henderson's sarcastic dive when we beat Wigan last season.
Duffy
Fleck
Stevens

Donaldson - now at Bradford having spent last season not scoring for Bolton
Sharp

Do you really think so? I think you've bought into the accepted view a bit.

Its our style and how the players are being used that’s making them look good.

Duffy was good league 1 quality all his career but under Wilder our fans swear blind he was a top quality upper Championship quality.
He goes to Stoke...they think he‘s crap and can’t get in their team....without SU Duffy will revert back to being good league 1 standard.

McGoldrick has been average Championship standard all his career.....whilst at SU he looks top quality.....even possibly PL quality.
If Didzy played for any other club he‘d revert back to Champiomship standard.

Mousset was underwhelming to poor at Bournmouth....he comes to us and starts looking a decent PL player.
If Mouset leaves us....ive no doubt he’s likely to look poor again.

The proof is in the facts.....let’s see how many PL clubs make decent transfer offers (over 10 million) for any of our players.
Also I suspect if most of our current players leave....then they’re careers will likely stall and gradually go down hill.

Wilder knows the concept of round pegs in rounds holes,., so he studies a players strengths and weakensss and gives them a job where their strengths are continuosly used and their weakness are either covered elsewhere or don‘t matter. Basically Wider is making players perform better than their real standard.

Thats because he focuses on what a player brings to “the team”.....their individual ability is irrelevant because it’s currently not used.

I remember similar things happening at Nottingham Forest under Clough....they’d buy an average player and he’d very quickly appear top quality playing in that Forest team....eventually Forest would sell him at a big profit and that player would quickly revert to being average again.

I have a piggy mate who was adamant we would've been relegated by Christmas on a record low points total.
He now says we will be relegated next season due to "second season syndrome".
Delusion/obsession is rife at S6. Seems it's rife with Cottaging Colwhite who sounds like a right dopper

Porktalk January 2029

“yes but they’ll struggle against relegation next season. There’s no way they have the squad to cover the Champions League, Premier League and World Club Cup, especially when Wilder leaves for Barcelona!” 😂

I always laugh when a £50m Premier League forward scores his first goal after a barren run of games when the commentator says “ and that’s why they paid £50m for him”. or “ that will pay back some of his fee”

So at your work, I don't know what you do, you are happy to be judged as good as your worst performances, and if you perform well, it's down to your manager who's brilliant and knows how to integrate you into the team and you shouldn't think it's you and shouldn't get much credit for it. If you question that judgement, your boss tells you that your performance is irrelevant and he'll only change his opinion if you get a better job offer somewhere else.
Glad I don't work for you ;)

we have a bunch of players that have continually improved individually
to be successful hard work and desire are a given, but you need a smattering of skill
players like Baldock stevens Basham are all twice the players they were 3 years ago, technically and as team players
To deny, we play lovely passing triangles and searching diagonal passes is doing us a disservice

we are 6th as we deserve to be there on the quality we display

They look fitter and more athletic than they did a couple of seasons ago too.

But we’ll see how good we are over the next couple of months, whether they were all playing at 110% or if they can maintain the high standards they’ve set for themselves.

we were 6th 11 weeks ago , cant see any reason why we cant be 6th in 11 weeks from now

What a lot of these ill informed idiots fail to see is that most of our team, although recruited from “lowly” clubs started kit at “big” club academies. OGS waxed lyrical about having Norwood at Maunure and Fleck was thought if as the second coming up here when he made his debut for Rangers as a boy.

What I’m trying to say is: they all have talent it was recognised and for whatever reason they didn’t make it at that point in their lives. Does’t ring true they are journeymen they can play, it just needed the right platform!

its a tribute too to knill and wilder just how good they are as coaches
they focus on each players strengths and bring that to the fore, making it hard for any weaknesses to be obvious
They look better players as the style we play is tailored to their abilities
